I'm considering a mad idea about tipping the shot out of a shotshell and replacing it with either a .5" ceramic ball or a .5" ball bearing. Can anyone give me tips on a suitable filler to centre the ball in the plastic shot cup and has anyone else tried anything like this? I would appreciate advice before blowing the barrel on one of my shotguns! Is there a formula to work out potential MV for this kind of trick? Thanks guys.

1) why?

2) it's the orginal shotgun slug. You can make it the same size as a slug's diameter.

Whats going to happen when that ceramic or steel ball hits the choak? Or if its a slug gun, the riflings? It wont deform like lead / copper will... just curious.

Craziest thing I've ever seen shot out of a shotgun was arrows out of a .410!

Confused Why would you want to do this? A ceramic ball will be so light that it will loose velocity/accuracy very quickly, I also concur that due to the hardness it would wipe out your choke at the least and more than likely split your barrel as would the steel berring. I could see some use for the steel bearing such as stopping an enraged Citron from the front where you may need some penetration! Insane Or for an armor plated hog!! Cool

How about arrows out of a Ruger 10/22, 415fps but I can't shoot any game animals with it! Crying or Very sad

The lightness is for velocity and hopefully it won't touch the inside of the barrel - just stay inside the shot cup until it exits the muzzle. The reason is to have something as near to a rifle as possible. Slugs are a different license and a rifle would take too long to get, in this country you are looking at between six months and a year. You first have to become a probationary member of a club, have to attend at least three or four times a month and then you can apply for a license. If you are lucky, you may get one after about another three months ........... IF you can provide sufficient need for one. Is it becoming clearer now???????? Hmmm!
