Yep,
Falls under all native species are protected.
As to venom approximately 60% of people bitten by snakes were trying to kill said snake.
Best just leave them be.

One thing for sure them snake never want to attack you.
The would strike only if cornered, venom cost them a lot of energy to make and are not usually wasted on non food animal.

Geland, do all the snakes know this and obey? How do they know I'm a non food animal unless they tried it already?

You are too big for them to eat Aloys. We do have some big pythons out here, but nothing like the ones found in Asia or Sth America.
Our venomous snakes would only bite if cornered and feeling threatened or startled in the grass, as happens when using dogs for hunting birds. I stood beside one of our more venomous snakes, a big Death Adder, for about 15 minutes. He was basking in the sun on top of a rock. He never moved a muscle because there wasn't a threat to him. Leave then alone and they will leave you alone. A bit like a rattler I suppose...he shakes his rattle to say, warning, I'm here, leave me alone.

I'm willing to believe you, but I also know that some snakes wear glasses... so if they don't see that well...
better safe than sorry!

You make me feel happier to live in my own country, where you can only find this kind of creatures in the nasty smelling parts of a zoo...
