I just picked up a Browning BPS 10ga, this old girl has seen much better days. I only paid $275 for it, there is hardly any bluing left on it and some rust to it. The guy who owned it hadn't taken care of it for years. One thing that I found interesting is the engraving on the receiver. I haven't seen a 10ga with the engraving let a lone the synthetic stock. I want to reblue it and restore it to her proper beauty. I might even put some custom wood on it.

wiersy, your new pump is sweet. 10 gauge? I haven't seen any of those shells on the shelves lately. Is this equivalent to a 3.5" 12ga? what does the inside of the barrel look like?

The bore looks great which surprised me. 10 gauge is pretty common around here. The 3 1/2" 12ga was developed to try and equal the 10ga, they do a decent job but the 10ga still reaches farther and hits harder. But they do dish out some punishment to the shooter. I also got 2 boxes of goose loads and 5 boxes of slugs. I have absolutely no desire ti shoot the slugs.

Nice gun if you need the extra shot to kill a bird Laughing

By the way, my open shooting day for Pistol League is April 5th.
Think you can make it and have some fun???

very nice. I can see the pooch is approving and will like the lack of cripples the big payload should achieve. those slugs should be worth good money to someone, you could put them up on a auction site.

Very nice Wiersy...you done good mate.

I have never seen a 10gauge, but I have heard a bit about their legendary hitting power. Why not shoot the slugs mate? 1 1/2 ounce of shot or 1 1/2 ounce of slug...no difference.

I have never seen a pump gun engraved before, so I had a look at the Browning website, and sure enough...there they are. From what I could see, the engraved guns appear to be Trap Guns, although I am not aware of a 10 gauge being approved for Trap shooting.

Whichever way mate...it looks like you have a sweet shottie there that will do you proud in the field.

Cheers, Vince

Nice gun...but I'm glad it's yours! If I had it I would be tempted to shoot it, and I swore to never fire another one after shooting an old Stevens 10-gauge single-shot with a horribly designed stock. That just plain hurts!

Good luck and good find!

That's the Stalker series....very common !!!

Stalkers were available in 10, 12, and 20 gauge.
The scene that was engraved on the BPS was dependent upon what the gun was marketed for.
My older turkey/deer special has turkey on one side and deer on the other.

New BPS's do not have any engraving on them !!!

LOL. BTW, we used a small 10ga "cannon" to wake everyone in the morning at the Boy Scout Camp I worked at when a teen. Do you have enough sound protection!?!

This should prove to be a fun project gun, I want her to have her bluing back and a friend of my in starting a business that does the camo dipping so I will have him do the but and forearm. It will make a good addition to the collection, and will see plenty of use when I go out to North Dakota to chase the ducks and geese. The two pups sure thought it was cool to sniff, my sons dog (Dipstick, 2nd pic) was all excited to figure out what it was, and my new girl (Lexi, 1st pic) sniffed it and laid down next to it. Both of the pups sat by the glass door and watched when I took it out on the back beck for a test drive.

Howdy Eric,
I might be on the road again about the 5th but I am not sure since things are changing so fast for us at work. If I am around home I will sure try to get down there for the shoot. Unless of course swmbo has something else in mind. I haven't been home much in the last few months so the honey do list is growing.

My son had to name his dipstick because the very tip of its tail is white.
