Yeah, it is interesting and when I was looking I heard that they may be difficult to get in the USA in the future and that is one of the reasons I bought it.
Got some extra clips too and loaded up some .410 self defense rounds ---amazing. If a herd of rabies infected squirrels ever charge me I feel relatively confident.

Les, the December "Shooting Times" has an article on .410 defense loads.

Thanks for the headsup on that Pumpkinslinger, I'll see if I can find what it says online. If I order any more magazines after the funeral my wife will be auctioning off all my guns.

Les, I looked online and didn't see the article. Maybe I can scan it and send it to you.

the winchester site has info on it.3 discs and #bb if I remember right. 4 balls of OO buckshot would take care of most things.

OK to clarify things I did not buy the so called defense rounds what I bought was Winchester Express 3" 000 buckshot, according to Winchester there are 5 pellets. Muzzle Velocity according to them is 1135 fps.
Anyway, I took Natalie back out to the range today to see if she could hit paper (reference Daughter can't hit the broad side of a barn), and I apologize to her either her rifle is cr-p or her scope is, I have a spare scope that I will put on and we will try again. A little history (sorry) Nat's husband Mike bought her a Mossberg .270 two Christmases ago and a Redfield scope (?) to go on it, he was trying to do good but did not listen to me but then they are poor and spend all their money on Ronnie's medication, she has CF. Anyway, today she still could not get a group, so I let her shoot my Savage 270 and my Howa 7mm Mag and she did just fine a little flinch but she can get over that, I tried her Mossberg and could not get a group.
Now, back to the Saiga .410 and the Winchester 000 buckshot loads, I had two 20 round clips taped together. I set up two targets at 25 yards and let lose with 20 a slight hiccup and 20 more. I do not care what anyone says about .410's or the loads I was using. If I were in a pack of squirrels rampaging down Pine street to attack lesterg3's house I would prefer to be somewhere else. I am not sure this will kill all the squirrels but it is sure gonna hurt like hell and that is 200 pellets coming at you as fast as I can pull the trigger.
The Saiga performed flawlessly, now I wish I had 410 reloading equipment.

good work on getting the girl out and trying to sort the wee hiccup. not sure weather the 7mm mag is a good option for someone with a possible flinch?? hope you gave her a crack with the squirrel gun too???
how did you buck shot pattern??
the few loads Ive done put the balls within a 6" area at 25yrds so it works for me. I feel the #BB would be a great load for "squirrels"invading the house, plenty of ooomph on impact but not too much over penetration. from what Ive seen shooting wallabies with the .12ga #BB has alot of killing power at under 50yrds it is a better option than buckshot for a dog sized critter as the pattern can get patchy out past 25 with #OO but #BB fills out nicely.

A shotgun will kill about any animal on the planet if you let it get within 10 feet.

And it would be really nice if you were 10 feet above the animal you were shooting! lol
