I went to my local FFL dealer this past Saturday to pick up a NIB American Classic Government Model 1911 made by Metro Arms Co. in the Philippines. I have been without a .45acp for too long and had to make amends. This gun is pretty much a standard 1911A1 with a few exceptions, G.I. sights, throated barrel, lowered ejection port and a flat MSH.
Well while I was at the dealer I spotted a great looking used Kimber Pro CDP II for $750. I asked to see it, checked it out and tried the trigger. At that point I started shaking and just barely managed to get to the door without buying a second gun. It ate at me all day on Sunday and so today I went back and put a deposit on it. I'm soooo weak!!

I hate it when that happens. Be strong and go for it. All the best...

Thanks guys. I always loved the feel and look of the original 1911. I took the GI model out for a little off hand informal shooting yesterday and it's on the money. I was just shooting at an old log, but it shoots to POA and no failures of any kind. It just feels right in your hand.
When I saw that Kimber I felt like it was calling to me. They had a nice Kimber Pro Carry II NIB for $40 less than the CDP was used, but everything about the CDP was nicer. Especially the trigger!

Held a lot of handguns.

I always comeback to that 1911. It's like shaking hands with an old freind or sumthin'. Glock's good too. But the 1911 just fits me.

That about sums it up! My regular carry gun is a Glock 27, but it doesn't fit my hand like a 1911 does. For dependability and low weight it's hard to deny a Glock, but those darn one size fits all finger grooves don't work. I used a Dremel and ground them off the grips on my Mod. 27. Even the grip angle of the 1911 lends itself to point-ability(is that a word??) better than the Glock.

That's exactly the word Blue- pointability.

Glock's rock and anyone that wants to challenge that is an idiot.
Full size Glock works for me, compacts dont, I cant tac reload w/o pinching my hand and having to really fiddle faddle around with the pistol.

1911 is slam rack BOOM BOOM BOOM. Sooo many good pistols out there. but each time I grab a 1911 it's just a natural thing.

I'll pick up the Kimber this coming Thursday. Supposedly there is some kind of notification form the FFLs have to send to the Feds if you buy more than one gun in ten days? I'd rather avoid any paper trails with the Feds if I can. Any rate I ordered a real nice holster for the Kimber from Kramer Leather. There's a 4-8 week wait, but I think it will be worth it.
