Our local public rifle range has been very busy as folks sight in their rifles for the upcoming deer season. There are 12 shooting benches and all of them were usually occupied. I spent a lot of time dumpster diving in the trash barrels for brass. and walked behind the shooting line to pick up more brass off the ground. The result has been amazing and I have a lifetime supply of brass. If anyone is looking for something, send a PM and I will see what is in my stash. Glad to help you out if I can.

I did find a loaded Remington factory round in the trash with the primer inserted upside down. Never saw that before. It was in the original box with other new fired brass and had not been reloaded. I took it home and pulled the bullet and deprimed the case. All the best...
Gil

Been there, done that Gil...it's a lot of fun sometimes, but mainly it just builds on my stocks of brass.

It's actually surprising what you can find too...weird and wonderful case head markings being just one thing.

Just this afternoon I spent about 2 hours in the range collecting old 22 cases that were littering the grassy area in front of the shooting booth.
The two of us, my mate Johnny and I managed to get some 65 kg (about 140lbs) of 22 shells mixed with sand and some rocks, gravels bits of steel and whatnots.
We did not manage to make even a dent in the amount of spent cases in the ground..

Anyhow, took the 65kg of brass to the scrap yard and was offered, for the two hours of work in 30°c heat, plus petrol in the car for the delivery, a princely sum of $22.00 Mad
because the amount of mixed metal in the lot.
Damn.. it is like working for $5 an hour.. less than what I would get if I work in a take away chain Confused
Bleh..
We cant be bothered to try another scrap yard, so we just left with 2x $10 notes and 2x $1 coins..

Gil, you are always finding the best deals! It doesn't get any better than free.

Vince is right.
