Another good looking rifle, DS. Does it shoot as good as it looks?

Thank you!

Well, I cannot give you an honest accuracy report on this rifle, because it's not mine. I built it for a customer, took a couple of pictures of it, and shipped it off. If I hear anything back on it though, I'll be sure and give a report....

Well done mate, well up to your usual excellent standard. That is a sweet looking little single shot mate. There is a lot if enjoyment to be had hunting with a single shot.

Very nice! Did you have to do anything to the forend? Not that the barrel looks like it would be affected by pressure from the forend.

What do you think about such a H&R action? I once tried to develop a load for such a thing in .270 Win and I had to stop without proper results. Lot of cases brook. In my opinion, that action only locks from beneath and during the shot, when pressure goes up, the barrel opens a little on top and closes when pressure goes down again. So the case stretches too much each time.
Result was for me that I didn't trust that action anymore and I stopped load devellopment.
And no, I'm sure my pressure was still way below maximum!

but I have to admit that with such an action you can have a short rifle with still a long barrel.

And it's no critic at your work because that's splendid as usual!

I've never handled one of those rifles. Nice looking rifle.

Is the receiver the same as a shotgun? Does it have powerful extraction?

The shotgun receivers are cast iron, and are referred to as an SB-1 receiver, and they have the large rounded shotgun firing pin...

The small firing pin SB-1 receivers are also fitted with 357 magnum and 44 magnum rifle barrels...

The SB-2 receivers, are made from a much stronger steel, have the smaller rifle type firing pin, and are designed for high pressure cartridges like the 223, 308, 270, 30-06, 35 Whelen, etc....
