(Edited after sending)
I've seen that maybe this psot could also fit in other forum related to features suggestion, but it has also some other things (the big thanks and also the question about other software.
Anyway, if moderators think that this is not the correct place, I'm sorry.
(End of editing)
Howdy everybody!.
My first post here, hope to help
The first thing I'd like to say is Thanks! for this superb software, I think it's very useful and has a lot of good features.
Second thing: I'd like to suggest some new features:
1) For non-american people (like me, I'm from Madrid, Spain) it's a little bit hard to work with english units, so could it be possible to include an option to change between both kind of units in PointBlack?
2) Another suggestion is also related to this: in "Misc. Functions", under "English/Metric Unit Converter" I think it could be very useful to include a converter for weight units: pounds, grains, grams, WDYT?
In case option 1 is not possible, I'll continue to use PB, but I'd also like to know about some freeware to do that kind of calculations but with Metric units, is there some suggestion over there?
Again, thanks for your time and keep good work!.
HTH.

lince,
You are just a bit early - or late depending on how you look at it. There is a version 2 in the works right now that will include both of your suggestions and a lot more. DallanC is working very hard on the changes and interface for the new program. If you are patient you will have a metric interface with some great new features that will knock your socks off.
This won't take long and it will be worth the wait.

Great!.
Again I have to thank everybody coding/helping in this superb software.
Anyway, is it possible to know when new version will come up?
Another option is to know if maybe a beta version is available?
In this way...:
- ...I'll get in short term what I'm looking for, and
- hope to help in beta testing for these new features.

Lince,
It will be ready when it is... Predicting when a piece of software is going to be finished is a bit like predicting earthquakes. Remember that Dallan has a full time job, two boards, and the software to write. He is taking more time to work on the software than the other things but there's no telling what kind of bugs he will run into along the way. Be patient and it will be ready soon.
The beta version is not yet available. He is busy working out issues in alpha code projects right now. Once the bugs are worked out of the alpha code it is put together as an alpha version of the software and any bugs that happen between the different modules are worked through. Then the Beta version will be released for testing (I suppose he has testers set up to offer him feed-back as testing proceeds). After the beta version is shaken out he will release the version 2.0 to the public. When he does that I am sure it will go through a period of shaking out all the different platform bugs that didn't occur during the other tests. This whole process can take a long time but the jump from Alpha to initial release can take as little as a month and as long as six or more depending on how the debugging goes.
Be patient and let him work his magic because drama always seems to slow the process. I am looking forward to the new version too! There are a lot of us waiting and doing what we can to help with anything he needs while he works on it. In the meantime look the forums over and see what this site has to offer you.

PaulS,
Please, don't misunderstand me, I work also in software issues and I am conscient that making freeware in your spare time can be lovely, but also tedious for example if you arrive very tired at home....
From this point of view my intention was not to put pressure at all, but trying to know when I have to wait, because this piece of software is really addictive
In the meantime look the forums over and see what this site has to offer you
Anyway, according to your comment, I've been searching for some other software that can help me without success, could you please help me?
Again, TIA
/lince

Lince,
here is a place to download software - some free, some shareware, some expensive and I believe there is one that has metric calculations. Some of it works on windows, some on DOS and some of it is for the old GWBasic that came with DOS up through version 6.22.
There is no warranty with any of this stuff and I should say that some of it is probable not public domain. So, if you see a copyright notice on the software be sure to contact the author or publisher to get a copy that is up-to-date and pay for it.

Hi Lince and welcome to HuntingNut. To answer your question, no, there is no beta version ready for release and you probably will not see a beta of Point Blank Ballistics Software. Dallen prefers to release a final version. Testing is underway at the moment but no predictions on a release date. Dallen does have a full time job that pays the bills and he works on Point Blank as time permits. Like Paul said, version 2.O will be worth the wait.
