Makes my blood boil!

Hey, Glockman, just wondering, was the turn in something that the general public voted in favor of or was it something the politicians forced on the country?

I thought it was just an update on how crime was doing since they disarmed all the law abiding citizens, but I guess this was 12 months after it took effect. Sorry I should have paid more attention. But on the other hand I see no problem in letting people know how good we have it here in the United States.

Dimitri is right. We had a mass murder in Tasmania by one guy....although there is some conjecture about that.....anyway, this prompted the Prime Minister, John Howard, to introduce some very tough gun laws. NO semi automatics without government approval...which is almost impossible to get.

The Port Arthur Massacre is pretty strange:

PORT ARTHUR MASSACRE

There is a lot of reading in there, but it is interesting.

Dallan. As for the crime figures....they don't publish a lot on crime figures over here...unless it is to their benefit.

Vince, the whole Port Arthur web page reads like a mystery novel. How incredible that you folks lose your guns because of the gross deception here.
I'm feeling for ya. I think, unless we stand up and sound off, we could be next some day. Thanks for the link

Vote indeed! We hunters/shooters need to vote and stick together.

The anti's sometimes try to split us up, like getting those that only use centerfire arms vs muzzleloaders or shotguns w/slugs arguments. Or trying to pit those of "traditional" firearms vs those that like military style guns. I don't care if a guy hunts deer with his FAL .308 ( I know two guys that do) as long as the magazine only holds 5 rounds.

We all need to stick together. If the enemy divides us then they will pick off one group at a time until we are hunting with slingshots.

Folks in the US do not understand what happened in Australia. It wasn't like the people voted for the gun grab. The folks they elected went off the deep end one night and wham...... Yes it was triggered by a guy that shot many people with a FN FAL at a resort.

I have been corresponding with folks down under for some time, what is and has been going on is a real nightmare of laws, overzealous police and a legal system run amuck. The worst types of witch hunts, by zelots, without curbs.

Example, the law does not allow for small infractions, so a child carrying a 22 LR cartridge to school to show his friends, got his father busted for failure to secure. Result was that he had all of his guns confiscated, never to be seen again and the he, the father charged with a felony.

A teen was driving down the road with children size play num-chucks hanging from his rear view mirror. Pulled over, beaten, arrested, car confiscated and fined $1500

An exporter raided, over $3,000,000 in property seized, wife thrown in prison and him in prison, convicted of a felony, possession of a "grenade." The grenade was an inert dummy rifle grenade on a 98 K in a glass case in his entryway, which was set up as a museum. The law does not say, except inert or dummy munitions, so it was a grenade and he got the book thrown at him. Enemies in the government, member of opposition party.

The opposition party's president and VP charged with election fraud, convicted and sent to prison. On appeal it was proven that the entire matter was fabricated by the government to discredit and convict the pro-gun folks.

I could go on and on.
Ed

Hi guys. In the US you guys have one very important document that we don't have........your Constitution. This document gives your some rights.

Here in Australia we have nothing like it.....consequently no real rights. Anything we have is at the whim of the Government! When the government makes laws....in particular our firearms laws....there is provision included for them to be amended later using Rules and Regulations. Now, Laws must go through the government to be changed, repealed etc....Rules and Regulations DON'T !! I'm sure you can see where this is heading.

Another thing that has "happened" to us recently is the banning of duck hunting in one State. This has come about via the introduction of a Private Members Bill introduced to government by a sitting member. The public don't necessarily hear about these things until it is too late. This bill is totally anti hunting (I think that they used the animal cruelty platform) and listed pretty well every animal that could, would or was likely to be hunted in Australia. Now comes the worst part.....the entire thing was accepted and can now be amended by Regulation as seen fit. Duck hunting was the first thing........who knows when other hunting will be banned......and it doesn't need to a law to be passed....its already there awaiting activation!!

I have said it on this Forum before and I reiterate it....I honestly believe that the Antis are using places like Australia as a testing/proving ground for their ideas and future actions. If they can get their ideas through our government then they then have a precedent to use in the US. It is well known that the Antis here in Australia are tied up with the Antis in the US.....working together testing ideas and future actions.

Watch your backs guys......the antis are hell bent on having anything and everything to do with firearms and hunting outlawed......and they are a damn sight more organised than is generally known. They have international bonding with other like-minded groups.......DO WE !!!!!!
I think not, well certainly at this time.

Rant
