Hello Gentlemen,
Just returned from my Concealed Weapons Course.
Here is how the shooting was conducted.
15 feet- Two hands- aim and fire 5 rounds in 10sec
One hand- aim and fire 5 rounds in 10sec
Two hands- aim and fire 5 rounds, reload and fire 5 more in 1min

25 feet- 20 rounds, same as above

50 feet-Two hands- aim and fire 10 rounds in 30 secs.

You had to shoot at least 70% to pass.

I shot with my Model 36 .38sp, 99.2%

We had 15 people in this course, and all of them were giving me
grief about qualifying with a Chief's Special 2" Barrel, but thanks to your help in my reloads, nobody was doing much talking after the shooting was over.

I think that the next best was around 96%, with many in the 80%'s.

Thanks again for all of the help.

Eric Marleau

What was that old saying about the guy with only one gun? Or the one about revolvers being "old technology"? Very Happy

"ONLY" 99.2? Shocked Wassamatter, not feeling well that day? ROFL

You did well! Congratulations. Flag

In Oz here, we used to shoot what we called "Pocket Pistol match" thats before the @#$% gun buy back a couple years ago.

Similar course of fire, with 25 yards, 10 yards and 7 yards shoots. Reloading must be from loose ammo (no speed loader or magazine changes). shooting 5 shots between 6 seconds to 35 seconds variants.

That was fun.. until the morons in the government and anti guns took them away from us, the bast#$ds.

Used to load 2" 38 colt SPIV with 138gn BNWC over 6gn AP30 and Federal primer, witht he bullet pushed right into the case (almost touching the powder). Groups at about 2 inches in 25 yards with very mild recoil.

Gelan.

I had a lot of fun during the shooting, and I wish that we could have shot more.

The pistol complex that we were shooting at is new, and is an add on to our rifle ranges.

Next spring I will be helping to develop a new pistol league, which should be a lot of fun.

Eric

When you want a high score you use the most accurate ammo you have at your disposal. A lot of the guys who were shooting the combat range thought they needed full house magnum loads. It just doesn't work that way. It takes very little power to push through a piece of paper. All that full magnum load will do is wear on your strength and zap your accuracy. We had the option to use what the range supplied or our own ammo. I tried the range ammo - it was dirty and a bit erratic in my six gun. I elected to use my own loads. It is the same load I always use - not because it was hot - but because it is the most accurate load I have for my gun. It has been a few years so I will have to find my records for bragging rights but I did pretty good - we shot at just a few paces from the target, about twice that distance, double that range, and ended up shooting at 25 yards for the timed fire and then the combat part of the testing was done with five shots at each distance from behind a barracade and reloading on the run between ranges. It was timed and scored for accuracy. It was a lot of work and I don't remember feeling very good about my score while I was shooting. When it was over I was happy with my score.
