Just curious what .22 l.r. ammo you folks prefer. My girlfriend and I spend a lot of time at the range shooting bolt action .22 rifles. We really like the Federal bulk packs of .22 l.r. high velocity hollow point ammo from Wal-Mart. We also shoot Remington Thunderbolts, Winchester Wildcats and Federal Lightnings. Surprisingly, most of the promotional .22 l.r. ammo shoots very well. What are your thoughts? Take care...
Joe

I too have found that the Federal bulk packs from Wal-mart outperform their price, shooting very well from my heavy barreled Ruger 77/22 as well as my Winchester 9422. Right now I have 6 550 round packs in my ammo cabinet. I stay away from cheap plain lead unplated 22 ammo after an incident with my single six revolver, leading was so bad that the lead came out of barrel in a tube shape after one extended shooting session.

I use CCI Blazers in my Henry Goldenboy, at 20 yards everything into a 2 inch hot spot, even better groupings at 25 yards.

i have found a lot of .22s like certain ammo over others, for instance, i tried the remington line and got results of under an inch at 50 yards from the marlin 25n, but then i tried the CCI stinger, and the groups went to 1/2 to 3/4 this with many many of them keyholing the previous shot.. told this to a friend of mine with a 10/22 and he laughed telling me that stingers in his shot like crap.... he used federals... so who knows..

I use Federal Lightning because cheap and rifling clean. My 22LR guns are Anschutz- rifle and Anschutz Exemplar- pistol.

American Eagle works the best in my .22 and Remington ammo next best. Federal bulk packs are not accurate in my .22 and there are too many missfires. They aren't worth the money cause my Browning doesn't like them.

I still haven't shot my 22LR, but I got a good 300 Winchester Super X rounds in a small coffee can from when I got the rifle.

I agree with Joe and shoot a lot of promotional ammo. I prefer the Federal bulk packs of high velocity hollow point ammo from Wal-Mart. All the best...
