|
I purchased a raffle ticket awhile back and won the first place prize........A LEE Load Master in a caliber of my choice with dies and ready to load. I chose 357 magnum.
Now I know there are alot of people here who know I'm a die hard Dillon man, But I'm going to give this Lee a chance to show me its stuff.(why not?its cost was $10.00) If it dont work out I'll sell it On EBay.
Any oppinions on the Lee Loadmasters?

I hear good things about Lee Precision and I'm probably going to get myself a Lee reloading set once I get them.
They are cheaper in price compared to most other companies but they are pretty well built and some here can probably varify that they can last a long time.
I say don't let the nay sayers make up your mind try it out and have fun with the new reloading set up.

I have used there dies and they work well no issues, haven't used there press though, I would think they would be fine though have a couple buddys that use them and love them, good luck with it.

When introduced, the Lee Loaders cost under $10. Add to that the components and "presto" you were in the reloading game. Soon thereafter they introduced the excellent Target model that added useful features. It took awhile to crank out a box of reloaded ammo, but, those Lee Loaders introduced thousands to reloading with minimal investments.
Lee products today offer pricing advantages for good basic equipment. Those that reload in smaller volume are well served by their presses and accessory items. Their warranties are good, too. But, their presses and primer systems have some failures if used for high volume loading which causes many to think of them as light to moderate duty, entry level items that are less durable than their more expensive counterparts from RCBS, Redding, etc. I believe it is a valid point of view.
If one reloads at higher volume levels or reloads cartridges that require higher leverage for the reloading process (large capacity, magnum rifle rounds, for example) or is going to do any case forming, heavy duty presses are a better choice for long term useage and ease of operation.

Handloader,
What about their new 50 caliber press, sure I cannot buy one anymore because of US 50cal export bans but don't you think they'd be able to handle the maginum rifle rounds ??

Their Classic Cast presses can and do load magnum cases, But their aluminum presses are not up to it for long.
This press is a progressive press. so Im going to assume its made for high volume and use it accordingly. If it cant load 500-800 rounds in a setting, with out break downs. Its of no use to me, and will be sold.

Or maybe $0.75 to anyone else??
Had a LEE 1000 a coupla years back and I was very happy with it. Used it to load .357 Mag, loaded thousands of them without any problems with either the press or the loads.
Use LEE dies now to load my .243 and they are great.
Cheers, Vince
