Ben and I came home with 14 ducks today for the opener Weinbender.
All of them were Woodys and Teal.
In the morning we will hit a spot for Mallards.

nice!!!!
the bag limit here is 8 ducks a day and 16 for possesion, mostly we dont limit ourselves to the bag limit if we have a chance of shooting more, we eat em anyway so it aint a waste if we shoot more! as long as we dont get caught offcourse. Very Happy

on saturday my dad and i and another new hunter went hunting, got 18 ducks, not too much but its allright for starters, they were all the native ducks, the ones that havent gone far up north, when the northers come then its hunting time cause they are not as wary and come in bigger groups.

good luck,
Daniel

I remember one year on Delta, it got very warm for about a week.
No new northerns were coming down, and the ducks that were there, had been blasted by us guys, and had gotten smart.
They were so smart that when they were coming into our spread and got close enough, they would flare like we put a red flag up and waved it.
I'll never forget that week.

Nice hunting and keep shooting and eating them.
We are doing the same thing.

We are heading to Wheaten Minnesota for three days next weekend, and the shooting should be great.
The folks around Wheaten are as nice as you Manitoba people.

Eric

Manitobans and nice!!!!! Confused Shocked
lol, it depends where u go in manitoba, around the urban areas they are very rude and love to give u the finger!

but when u get to the more rural areas they are generally alot nicer and easier to start a hunting conversation with! Very Happy
we dont hunt at delta but at a marshy area about 40-50 miles north of the american border at a place called Kaleida, its got a good fishing spot and the hunting is great. every year we bring the generous farmer expensive german/swiss chocolates to show our appreciation. before each season starts we go to them to ask for persmission for that season just in case. even tho we know that we wouldnt have to because they are the nicest farmers i know! once they didnt even let me finish my sentence, they just said "go right ahead"!
great people!

Weinbender,18 in 10 days !yeehaww!

Weinbender,

Don't give up with the city folk you deal with, I was in Toronto and got to deal with some pretty "anti-hunting" types, I never let them bother me, if I was talking to someone about hunting or fishing and they started to make a scene I'd tell them "This is a private conversation" and forget about them. Most of the time that works. Wink

If that doesn't then I offer to take them fishing or hunting to change their minds, they normally just get so upset they leave. Very Happy

By the way, Happy brithday in advance Wink Did you already take your Non-Restricted test and have the application ready to go to the mail on your brithday ?? Smile

Dimitri,

I dont let em bother me either, if they start to argue with me i usually shut them down with a good and intelligent reply/answer!lol
Yeah i did both my hunters safety course and the firearms aquisition course or whatever thats called when i was 12. So now i have to phone the firearms center and ask them to send me an application so i can fill it out and send it away.
cant wait till i get my FAC so i can finally go out hunting by myself.

and Dimi. Ontarions are i personally believe nicer and more welcoming but then again thats just my opinin.

Daniel

I expect you're going to find good and bad folk wherever you go. (Yes Eric, there are bad ones in Manitoba, lol, but the Delta is one of the best waterfowl hunting spots on the planet) Personally, I'm finding that I like large urban areas less and less and less....and I never cared for them much to start with, just need some room to stretch and some fresh air to breathe, you all know?

I agree with you Tracker,

if i had the money id buy myself and a few hundred acres of forest somewhere far away from civilization and then id build myself a nice little cottage and get exclusive hunting/trapping and fishing rights and ill be the happiest man alive! wouldnt mind a woman that can stand living in those kind of conditions but that would be a little hard to find. if i could have that kind of life, id die a happy man! Very Happy Very Happy
thats my life goal!

The people around Delta speak with a kind of Scotch accent Bushy.
Us Iron Rangers have a Canadian accent.
After a few week with the Manitoba people, I use to develop the same accent as the Delta folks.
Got some crap went I got back home every year. Very Happy

I agree with you guys about city folk.
I never could quite understand them. I figure that anybody that chooses to live in the city has NO independent thoughts of their own, is kind of cowardly because they think that if they are with other people they will be safe, and does what they are told to do by government and employer without question.
My kids have learned to think the same as I do, and my wife sometimes gets a little irritated at my teachings to them. When I am forced to work with this type of person sometimes, I quickly indoctrinate them into being a first rate country Redneck. They usually thank me for teaching them independence.:-D Very Happy

My dad is so much like u ElyBoy,

he taught us to think for ourselves and not to depend on other people
He sais Serve God, Love your country and live independent or in any combination!lol Very Happy

I feel weird talking to u guys as if u are the same age as me, my dad also taught me to respect my elders so i hope i am not insulting/offending anyone.
