Good post Joe, and you hit me right square between the eyes.

The kids and I always go home to Ely for the fishing opener, but with the gas prices the way that they are, I am staying home this year.
I figure that when all is said and done, if we go, I will have spent $200.00 on gas for the weekend.
That is some pretty expensive walleyes.

I would rather spend the bucks this hunting season instead.
We also have Ben's Graduation coming up, and the $200.00 will be saved for that, even though we will save money buy using the Sportsmen's Club for the gathering.

As for the election, I agree with everything that Bushy says, but I can see why you other guys feel the way that you do.
I will hold my nose and vote for McCain.
As I said before, voting for the Conservative in our local elections is very important this year.

Eric

Odds are around 80% that I will convert my truck to run on CNG (compressed natural gas) this year. CNG is .64 cents a gallon locally and there are alot of places to fill up. Conversion will cost around $4000 and that includes a huge 16x48" CNG tank.

They are starting to produce CNG refilling stations that hook up to a homes gas supply line so you can refill at home, but they are kindof pricey currently.

I should recoup those costs fairly quickly as gas heads north of $4.

I'll tell ya Dallan with the way gas keeps goin up that might not be a bad idea. It is $3.80 a gal here today I'm sure it will be more tommorow.

Diesel is also more expensive than gasoline these days. I've seen some pretty fuel efficient vehicles online recently, several about ready to be marketed.

The economy is killing me. Or I should say the stupid Kaliforna Gov't who gave themselves raises and cut school spending is killing me. Mad School's are laying off masive numbers of teachers. The district that I went to school in is laying off over 125 teachers and closing 2 schools. As someone who is looking for a full time teaching job it sucks. Sad I've had one interview and that didn't work out because they went with teachers already in the district. I think I've started to bang my head against a wall. Bang Head

For some reason my father is doing great. With gas prices people are fixing their cars to get better MPG. As for my little pick-up I get about 23 mpg city and 28 mpg freeway as long as no one else drives it. My dad's boss is giving him $100 gas gift cards a month so he can get to work.

I liked what my statistic teacher had told us about the media and stats. That with the right margin of error we can convince people anything.
