Well, a few hunting and work buddies went on a road trip to Bentons. I held out the first trip (2 of us, he showed me where the cause of my divorce is located) and only bought a coyote squeaker.

The second trip was five of us in two cars. I put the above mentioned Ruger in layaway for $445. This was last Saturday (and some website I hit was down). Early Sunday morning before church I hit Ebay. I have a Leupold M8-2x fixed scope on the way for $105 - shipped.

I've possibly found a good deal on a 17 Rem barrel for my Contender.

I need to sell a couple of unused toys to pay for this! The OT has dropped back to a mere trickle.

Just picked up a Leupold M8-4 for $136.10 shipped. And I'm still the high bid on 3 more Leupolds and a Burris.

I may be selling some of the stuff I'm getting to pay for the next shipment at this rate!

Chris,

Connection speed doesn't matter IF you do the auctions right. Find your item and make your highest acceptable bid right at the start then don't worry about it until you get your "You Won, Now Pay For It" email.

Patience is the key. I suspect a good hunter would do very well on the auctions. I might bid on 30 items to get one. It takes maybe 30 minutes, then I wait.

Occasionally, it has put me in a bind. Like last summer when I was high bid on a Beretta 1200FP and a Mosberg 500 combo (I placed a very low bid as a marker and nobody else bid). I might get "hurt" with the scopes. If I get over half of what I'm still on I'll have to buy a couple of rifles so the scopes won't be lonely. Drats.

I like "sniping" myself on ebay.

When I find something I like I generally dont bid until there is about 20 seconds left on the auction. I open 2 browers, one with a bid ready to be placed and another I constantly refresh to see the time remaining, current price, the number of biggers etc etc.

I win too much stuff Twisted Evil
