Its all very pretty country up there. I would love to have purchased my Uncles cabin when he passed, But sons first. I guess we could barrow it from my cousin now and then but we never seem to have the time any more.
Good luck with your scouting!

My Mom's family is from Negaunee and had a camp on Big Shag Lake. We visited up there several times and I always liked the country... in the summer time!!

Negaunee is about 10 miles west of Marquette. I still have some relatives in the area.

I had a great trip to the U.P. this week end. Lots of Deer sign, scrapes, rubs, etc. We set up our stands and found a few more good spots to hunt. We had great weather, now all we need is snow for the opener. Just a super trip. We'll be heading back up on the 13th for Rifle season. Can't wait.

They say that licence sales are up this year. sure they are with age limits being reduced. more youth hunters. and the die hard hunters like myself will still buy them. but in the next couple of years, when most hunters haven't harvested anything. there will be a falling out of many that will say what is the use. can't even see one let alone harvest one. I hunt in the bovine dmv and haven't baited since the ban there. but many still did. but this year most of them quit baiting. but low and behold on opening morning they all got visited by the dnr and messed up there hunt anyways. seems like the dnr wants to piss off as many as they can with all the planes going over and all there other tactics. To me it just seems like they are getting to powerful and all our licence fee's go to pay them to bother us and make us feel like we are doing something wrong, even when we are not! where have the improvements to our state lands gone? I thought that licence fee's, at least part of them was to improve our lands and game. I haven't seen a state land crop planting in some yrs. now. but I do see alot of state land being harvested for the trees. where does that money go? oh to hire more co's lol. I does seem to be the beginning of the end of hunting in our great state. sorry to say that. but just think about it.
