So I am one step closer to reloading my own, now owning a Lee Full Length Resizing die set, a Lee Challenger Press and now a Lee Powder scale. Smile

Soon actual reloading components and rolling my own.

Dimitri

D,

It sounds like Eric and Morax are trying to warn you about loading no-nos that they have had personal experiences with. Perhaps they can tell their stories...........come on guys........a good laugh is always welcome, especially at someone else's expence. Very Happy

I didn't see a reloading manual like Lyman's 49 edition listed in your post, Big D...

I picked up the Lee-Reloading manual when I picked up my press. Forgot about mentioning it. Embarassed

I know your very fond of the Lyman manual and I am considering getting that, however, next manual to purchase will be the Sierra manual as I plan on mainly reloading 150gr MatchKings.

I still need a tumbler, case length cutter and one of those powder throwers. Smile

By the way Eric and Morax, you mean its ok for me to pull the 150gr FMJ bullets from the Remington UMC I bought and fit 150gr Match Kings without knowing the powder type or weight? Very Happy

Hey D.

I'm with Bushy.
Spend the $20.00 on the Lyman Manual.

What, you can't smoke and load at the same time, even with mixed powders??? Laughing

on a serious note, get and over time build your library of reloading books because you can never have too much info! as far as powder throwers go, i use a manual rcbs, a buddy of mine uses a electronic one with scale intergrated into it, not a bad system..

on a lighter note, i smoke cigars every now and again, well i went into the garage and plopped down and lit the lighter as my eyes went to the flame, directly in the line of sight was my brand new can of H414!! I thought WTF are you doing?!?! got up and slowly walked out the door of the garage!!

and hey big D check yer PM

Currently on my bench are manuals from Accurate, Alliant, Hodgdon, Hornady, Lee, Lyman, Nosler and Speer. There are some other older manuals stuck on a nearby bookshelf too. I don't believe that you can have too much reference material available.

D, btw, I have RCBS powder measure and case trimmer, along with a Lyman case tumbler, that I've been very pleased with.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm thinking to get a manual RCBS one. Nothing fancy like those electronic powder throwers. Smile

One question though, my rifles bore is not a "true" 308" but instead a 307". The guy I bought the rifle from told me to keep the loads 1 grain less then I would when reloading for another 308Win. Does this make sense? Smile

A little less powder in a little tighter bore makes some sense but because I know you'll be working up your own loads starting with the START load it really won't make much difference.

Oh!! D, I mounted my case trimmer to a short length of 2x6 board and then clamp it to the bench when I need to use it. That way it isn't cluttering the bench when not being used.
