Chambered and Bushy: Those are questions I wrestled with prior to getting my CC permit. It is an awful responsibility.

I had a friend who was a Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles County. He told me that one night, he answered a call about a prowler.

There was a mentally challenged young man in a nearby house, and when he saw the lights, he got his cap gun, and went to help the officers.

Darrel met him in a dark alleyway, saw he had a gun in his hand and was about to shoot the kid, when something warned him don't do it.

His superiors came down on him hard for not shooting... it would have been justifiable, under the rules at that time.

He never regretted not taking the shot. Most of us either might not hear, or, in the emotion of the moment, might not listen to the "little voice" or whatever it was that caused him to hold off.

I was a claims adjuster for my state, and I handled many cases where persons looking for the big $$$ sued the state on the flimsiest of grounds. Of course, when they had a good case, I would try settle it long before it could go the the attorneys.

One thing that is a reality, if you do shoot someone, even a "little bit", is the lawsuit. You will pay your attorney a minmum of $100,000, and that is if you win! Just something to consider while dealing with the other realities of concealed carry.

Rule #1 in all of this, is to stay away from places, and people who would get you into a bad spot.

Rule #2--Retreat when possible

When you do decide to pull your weapon, a lot of things take place and are put into effect all at once, and none of them are exactly terrific.
It is called "The final option", and you should go over this in your head all of the time if you decide to carry.

On a different note, I carry the Kel-tec PF9.
The little bugger shoots great even at 25yds, is small, and shoots 9mms.
Single stack, so I have one in the chamber, and 7 in the magazine.
Kel-tec gets a bad rap from the "internet ninjas" because it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but I have never had a fail to feed with it.

It was of course war, and I don't remember everyone I shot. I lost tract, but there were many.

I fully remember only the ones where I saw their face before I pulled the trigger, it still, after 40 gives dreams I do not like and memories that I wish would go away.

I think under the most extreme of circumstances that we may be able to justify using deadly force, but I will testify that you will never ever forget it.

I cannot run away from trouble anymore, but I can certainly use my brain and stay away from where trouble is likely to occur, and there are many things you can do to your home to discourage break ins. Nothing is perfect tho so being prepared is the only option.

I'm looking real close at the Kel-Tec P3at, the LCP is ALMOST an exact copy of the P3at which has been around for 2 generations , Taurus is now producing a copy of it also. these little .380's are becoming so popular that there is an ammo shortage in some parts of the country.

The Kel-Tec p3at has been around for about 6 years, not two generations, at least in my family. Smile There are two "generations" of the p3at, the second "generation" has a different extractor. Is this what you are referring to? The P3at has quite a following, so does the new LCP. My friend has a Kel-Tec p3at and it has been a good pistol, he really likes it. I just bought a Ruger LCP a couple weeks ago and it has been great so far. I have put 50 rounds through it with no malfunctions. It is an accurate pistol, surprising me for its size.

My main off-duty/concealed carry gun is my S&W 640 .357. I do carry a full size 1911 at times concealed in the wintertime. The LCP is for a backup pistol while on duty, although I may possibly carry it by itself when it would be too hard to conceal the 640. Such as carry in a pair of swim trunks at the beach.

Here is a pic of my new LCP with target shot with 45 rounds from 12 yards.

I finally saw an LCP at the last Charlotte gun show but the guy wanted $360 for it (MSRP is $330 I think) and told me he only had one... I could see more under the table behind him! I told him I guessed that I didn't really need one right now.

The LCP was a little smaller than I expected. When I find a more reasonable dealer I'll pick one up.

Dealer cost for the LCP is right around $230.00. I paid 289.95 out the door at Frontier Outfitters in Fairbanks. A lot of people are taking advantage of the demand for these pistols and jacking the prices up.

Swim trunks? Fairbanks, Alaska?? Beach??? Confused

Realizing that they (Ammunition manufacturers) have made great improvements in bullet performance I still feel that anything under a 9mm X 19 is just one step above a sharp stick. As I have said before I carry a .45 ACP when possible and a 9mm X 19 for the summer months.

If I was to conceed and go with a .380 I would pick the Walther PPK or PPK/S.

For swim trunk wear, roklok, I have a FIE .25 Titan. ROFL

Diesel, thought maybe thats what you meant, just wanted to make it clear they hadn't been around for 40 years.

Bushmaster, Hawaii is the beach for most Alaskans. Large numbers of residents travel there every year to frighten the Hawaiians with their pale skin.

I like the PPK but the P3AT and LCP are in a whole different class of size and weight. There are quite a few 9x19s these days the size of the PPK. I would carry one of them before the PPK.

Hey Bushy,

I ordered the Blackhawk Serpa Holster from the NRA Store.
It just came yesterday.
Trust me, it's the most comfortable holster that I have, and is made to hold the pistol close to your hip for carry.
I have it on now, just to get used to it, and my Taurus PT1911 feels like I am carrying nothing.

For $35.00, it is worth the money.

Eric

I have a super pp, or is it pp super? that fit my hand but the other two just bite my hand. don't care for them at all. Some one up there said try before you buy I couldn't agree more. And if you don't have any friends with ccw guns youre hanging around the wrong crowd or you need to improve your personality.

Hey Sniper, I used to have a Daewoo in 9mm and I liked it. It was quite accurate and concealable.

Chambered I'm going to have to agree with you for the most part on the .45. Springfield makes a couple different and affordable 3" 6+1 and a 4" 7+1 GI model 1911. Remington Express 230gr, JHP's, subsonic's work just fine in. I use them in my full size 1911 for carry.

Another gun you might want to concider is the EAA witness compact which comes in 9mm, .40 S&W .45 and 10mm.

Just a little food for thought or maybe to confuse you even more, your choice. Laughing

Hey bushy sorry I took so long, I logged off when you called me. I did check out that site but don't have any personal experience w any of them. Do you? I've had alot of conversations w\ Matt Canovi even though his school isn't listed he is impressive. Have you tried his website? It has a movie on it. I took my ccw with him and his advanced course. I posted his site in LesterG's post about trying to find a holster. He's good people.
