The shop I usually buy my components from was out of the bullets I usually load in my 7mm Rem Mag so I decided to try some 139gr Hornady SST's. I went to start working up a load today and I can't find any load data on them. I can find bullet coefficient but not C.O.A.L, or load specifics. I have info on SST's for the 30-06 but nothing for 7mm Rem Mag.

The Hornady manual lists 14 powders for loads with the 139 grain SSTs. C.O.L. is givan as 3.290"

Thanks! Looks like I need to get a new Hornady Manual. What Edition did you find this in?

You can use data for another 139 or 140 gr. jacketed 7mm bullet. I think the Hornady manual is excellent and well worth buying but it's not absolutely essential in working up loads for the different to you bullets.

Also, you don't have to follow any specific COAL length. The right COAL for you is one that:

1. Feeds well from the magazine
2. Is as close to the lands as possible without actually touching them.
3. Is such that at least 1 caliber length of bullet is in the case neck.

In a cartridge case the size of a 7mm Rem. Mag., a little difference either way in COAL will make no appreciable difference in pressure.

Than pretty much what I did the main reason I asked is to confirm the C.O.L. for the SST is at least close to 139gr Hornady BTSP. The SST has a cantelure and the BTSP doesn't. i just like to be 100% sure of my data before pulling the trigger.
