Correct me if I am wrong...but the way I read the above, it says that the Govt is controlled by the people (the people elect the Govt) and not the Govt controlling the people. If this becomes the case then it is legal for the people to form a militia and rise up against the Govt.

Given the current Terrorism Laws, I can't help but feel that anybody who forms a militia, with the intent of rising up against, and deposing, the standing elected Govt would be considered guilty of terrorism and dealt with accordingly.

Such is the way of the power hungry, self serving people who enter politics. Gone are the days when it was a calling, a way for patriotic people to do something for their nation...the people. Today it is considered to be a lucrative employment by many, and a means of living their beliefs of their own superiority.

The time is long past where Govts need to realise that they do not control the people...they are only holding the reins of the nation as caretakers for a short period of time, to do the will of the people...not champion their own agendas, which all too often seems to be the case.

There is nothing new in this thought but governments everywhere only have the power that the people allow them to have. Unfortunately through complacency, apathy, fear, etc. some governments are allowed to take too much power. Sometimes the people rebel, other times their neighbors have to react. We have thousands of years of proof of this but we seem to ignore our history.

Hit the nail on the head Vince. Early Government positions where held by people who had Jobs. Farmers, carpenters, store owners etc... The origional Government heads met for two weeks a year and business was taken care of. Let the mudslinging and the highly lucritive pork belly bills begin and the rest is history a government that has taken over the people not the people over the government......
