2nd what pump says about cheap scopes, the only ones that have ever failed me cost under $100. however I have had good luck with fixed power scopes maybe the cheap + moving parts is a bad combo. not very many people I see at the range use a fixed but used M-8's are a bargain i like the 4x on my hunting rigs. A 30-06 of mine shoots nice groups with one also. .75" at 100 yrds. that is usually good enough way the heck out there.

I would also check out swfa.com/. They have good deals and also a sample list of scopes that they have used for a project then sell at a reduced price.

Just as I tought on the cheap stuff...

Slim- cool link, thank you.

I've looked a ton of glass. Simple and robust, that'll do. The 3200 Bush Tactical is on the top of the list so far.

Here's a question fer ya:

Elevation clicks = 1/4" @ 100Y.
@ 200y does that mean 1/2" and @ 300y 3/4" per click or do I have the math wrong?

Ok- first off thanks for all the tips and stuff.

I settled on this one as it was at the limit of my budget, was a 40 not a 50, did not have a ton of bobbles and stuff, no illum reticle etc. and had the most eye relief.
300$ delivered. Should be here in time to mount, bore-sight and take to the range with the rifle for it's first outing.

Copy that!

"El Kabong" is still in quarantine, but, I went by the shop and they pulled it out for me and let me size up the mounting area of the scope over the action and it's a close fit. I should be OK.

It's calibrated at 15x for the dots. Was wondering why 15X was in red. When all else fails, read the directions! Laughing

ht in yards x 1000 / # of dots (incl fractions of) = range . I think that was the math. Played with that a little scoping a post in the park.
Adjustable objective is a nice touch too! Seagull turds are nice and crisp on the street lamp covers that are appox 50y apart.

8 more days till I can mount it. Sad

Takes some practice to use mil-dots for range estimation. I could never get good enough with it so got a laser range finder. I am learning how to use mil-dots for bullet drop compensation.

I will not claim to know a lot about scopes, just what works for me, and a few friends I hunt with.

I now have 7 scopes in total, and the last 3 I bought are Bushnells, as they really seem to be a good scope.

I recently bought a new one, and moved the old scope from my 300 mag, to my .308 and put a new Bushnell on my 300 mag.
This is what I got for it, and I like it a lot.

Wicked nice glass. Smile Outta my price range. Crying or Very sad Jealous here!
I stuck with a 40 as the mounts are being reused and that's saving me some money.
