OK- shoot me now, I've seen it all.

You all haven't spent enought time overseas.

There's a reason for that.

I like my burgers and fries, w/o frogs and pig faces, thanks very much.

The Bayou Farms "pickled frog" has been around for a while - originally posted on one of the Photoshop sites.

Yeah, traditional food around the world can be pretty freaky. I hear monkey brains are best eaten from LIVE monkeys by the way.

Some of the Asian foods are supposed to be very tasty. Those big water beetles from the rice paddies are supposed to taste a little like mint (you snap them in half and suck the juicy goodness out).
The week-old fermented fish is supposed to be a treat too. I just couldn't get by the smell, though. A bunch of Asians used to heat this dish up every Friday in the break room at one shop where I worked. All us finicky Americans would eat out on Fridays. If the weather wasn't too humid, the smell would be gone by Monday.

Live monkey brains, sucking beetles - I won't be surprised if the administrator blocked this post!

First time I had chilli prawns (shrimp) in Malaysia, I couldn't believe the way they eat them.

The prawns are cooked whole...shell and head...in a chilli sauce, then you just pick the prawn you want, break the head off, suck it out, then chomp the body...including the shell. Nope...not for me.

Cheers, Vince

That actually sounds GOOD, Vince. Then, I'm a big fan of raw bars too. Love raw oysters, and sashimi just melts in your mouth. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm good.

Agree with that mate...in fact the only way I will eat oysters is to get them fresh off the rocks. I sit down on the rocks with an oyster knife (for opening the oyster), maybe some lemon wedges or Worcestershire Sauce and hook in to them fresh.

Raw fish...no way. Wouldn't eat raw fish anymore than I would eat raw steak.

Cheers, Vince
