Jack,

Yah. I am thinking about loading some Nosler 200gr Spitzer's or Accubonds. Possibly 195gr Spire Points from Hornady all of them are close to the original bullet weight of 198gr. Very Happy

What do you think ?? Confused

Dimitri

Dimitri. Jack is right ther is a lot of sastifaction handloading your ammo for tight groups and hunting. I have taken aprox 35 deer with a center fire rife and have never taken a deer with a factory round. When ya come home from the range with those clover leafed targets ya feel pretty good that you did it. Very Happy

7.62 (308) ?? sounds good , Noslers are a bit more pricey than Hornadys ..

HHMM K .. Well if it's a .323 and not a .318 , there are some good bullets out there .. Not to worry , think they J was the only .318 and it was a German load ..
8mm semi auto ?? HHMM interesting ..

Coyote_hunter_...Speer 170 grain Flat Nose is the best bullet for my "Winchester mod 94"...I have no problem keeping it in a 3" dot at 100 yards. My "Jack handle" is 57 years old and is still hunted...Do you hand load???

Jack,

Its a 323cal. Smile Out of the ones I put up there if money wasnt something you were worried about what would you pick ?? Confused For all around hunting from grizzlies to small deer. Confused

It was made in the 1950's for Egypt (atleast the 8mm Mauser version). Very Happy

10Round non-detachable stripper clip fed weapon (Capped to 5 though). About the size of the M1 Grand. Picky about ammo. Iron sight is compensated to 1000meters.

GilMartin has one too I know for sure. Smile

Jack,

Thanks for the reply Very Happy

Apparently Noslers here cost 2 times the amount then Hornady is that normal ?? Confused

Doesnt matter too much. Its about 60 cents each Nosler and only 30 cents each Hornady. Smile

I care more about having a standard ammo that works for anything then fiddle with loads all the time so I think I might go with Nosler anyways. I might not be saving "alot" or shooting "alot" more with Noslers but its probrobly worth it Very Happy

Handloading is something I started to do after moving to Colorado back in '81 and bought a 7mm Mag for elk hunting - couldn't afford to shoot it otherwise. These days I reload for 9mm luger, .357Mag, .44 Mag, .45ACP, .22-250, .257 Roberts, 7mm Mag, .30-30, .300 win Mag, .375 Win, and .45-70.

The Winchester factory 170g Power Points are what I use to plink clay pigeons at 200 yards with the Marlin .30-30. They are pretty deadly at that range. I have several Speer loads (I use 130, 150 and 170g bullets) that have held 2" and under for 3 shots at 100 yards but I need to finish development with them (basically load some more at a smaller range of powder charges and shoot again.)

Well yeah better , but the hornadys and others perform almost as well , and if you want to shoot a bit , they will be less expensive .. You can easily work up loads for both bullets ..

True Jack,

Didnt think about that. Humm. Well first I got to get a reloading press and all of that. Smile

I wonder if this time around when I go to buy it (hopefully in a couple of months) when I got the money the store has it instock unlike last time. Sad Went and bought myself some fishing gear that day after that. Smile

IMO if you're starting from scratch , and have the funds , outfits like Cabela's sell RCBS kits ( Supreme Master Reloading Kit ) for US$260.00 .. Just need dies , around 20-25 US ..
Go to their online catalog at
www.cabelas.com
order line is 1-800-237-4444 ( Canada as well )
Canada shipping info is same number
This may sound kind of high dollar , but when you kick the bucket as an old fart admiral , that set up will still be serving you well ..
Also beyond the basic necessary stuff , there is a bunch of stuff that you can spend money on that you dont need .. Keep it down to the necessary items , and you wont be wasting a lot of money ..
Jack
