Congress has recently announced that March 30th 2011 will be the day that the US decides to oficially welcome home our Vietnam Veterans. Forty one years late-and a lot of our brothers have passed on-but what the hell, accept it for what it is. Proud recognition of your sacrifices and blood shed in service to our country. Let's see to it that the men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan don't have to wait forty-one years for recognition of their service to our contry.

Well put WildHorse, long overdue for the Vietman Veterans. I hope we have learned that lesson and won't let it happen again, ever.

Good post Wildhorse, my family lost a relative (1st cousin) to me during the nam war. I was close to him like my brother and sister. Miss him dearly. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

AYE AYE Bushy and Jim. Salute Salute

It took al awful long time for them to officially welcome the Vietnam Vets home here in Australia. Left a bitter taste in a lot of mouths I can tell you.

Make the most of the day...get together with your surviving mates and remember those no longer with us...they deserve nothing less. Never forget.

LEST WE FORGET

Cheers, Vince

1982: Groundbreaking at Vietnam Memorial – On March 27th 1982 a group of 125 veterans gathered between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument to break ground at the future site of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Vietnam veteran Jan Scruggs spearheaded the movement to lobby congress and raise money through private funds to build the memorial. The black granite wall holds the names of 58,267 men and women who were killed or remain missing in action.

A salute to all those we lost,
