I like a straight grip, seems more "traditional" to me for some reason.

It does not matter very much to me, I like them both ways. All the best...

One of the great things about that company is that they hand finish every rifle and carbine coming off the line. That is why the stocks fit so well. Even though their QC is the Mark I Eyeball, the level of experience of the craftsmen is astounding.

I prefer a pistol grip. Out of the 4 levers I have only one has a straight grip.

To bad Remington bought them out . Its wait and see if they ship manufacturing overseas also! I'm waiting for Hornady to catch up on there Levalotion (sp) for the .32 spec. then I'll use my old Marlin. Its a curved grip. Worked for many yeras in Minn. for Pa and me. Still tempted to usse it here in Wyo. before my oldest talks me out of it!

Probably not. The complexities of importing firearms drive the costs up, and when they are already manufactured stateside, it is not worth the setup costs to manufacture overseas. Plus, Remington has so much automation in Ilion, that their cost per unit is almost as low as it would be if they moved manufacturing overseas.
Right now, Remington is bringing in the Russian single shots and Serbian Mausers that EAA/Charles Daly used to import. They also get one of their bolt action rimfires from Romania. I think they bring a high-end Italian shotgun in, too. Their flagship lines are all made in the USA.
All Marlin lever guns are made in Connecticut. The H&R 1871 Handi Rifles and single shot shotguns are made in Red China and assembled in Massachusetts. I don't know about the Marlin shotguns and rimfires.
The real question is, will they continue the new Marlin bolt action?

I like both types, the pistol grip is more comfortable, the straight looks better. I don't really care either way.

only lever gun I ever owned was 39A. my dad bought it for me in 1946. paid $25 for it used. traded it for 340 in .222 in early fifties. been kicking myself for many years since. price for a new one today is astronomical.
