Illinois has finally been dragged kicking and screaming into the world of concealed carry! Even the last minute grandstanding of our useless governor didn't stop it. Granted, the law is less than perfect, but once the dust settles it looks to be one we can live with. No real details as far as what constitutes a training course other than 16 hours of training to include 30 rounds at 30 feet live fire. It has been a very long struggle. I just hope Chicago and the various "home rule" cities don't end up taking all of the teeth out of it.

It's about time, reading the chicago tribune this am, they said it would be 2014 till all paperwork applications are ready, including certifying gun instructors for the 16hr course. I'm sure the chicago machine is in a huddle working on their next game plan.

Everything is up in the air as to the actual training course, whether class training taken for out of state permits such as Utah will count on the class hours, certification of instructors and etc. Chicago is already scurrying to come up with city laws that will severely limit carry and weapons and our idiot governor is still trying to stick his two cents in with carry of only one weapon, magazine limits, places where carry is not allowed and, best of all, rather than a business posting a sign that states that firearms can't be carried in their establishments, he wants signs posted only if carrying is permitted! Bang Head

Start printing signs that say, "entry without a concealed weapon is forbidden"
and hand them out to all the stores in your area. Put one on your car door and the front gate too.

You could add in small print, "if it is needed careful aiming is appreciated"

I doubt if he will get his way, but it is just an example of the quality of our crop of governors. The joke around the state is that we have strict term limits...most of them go to jail after their second term.
