Vince, its not that I haven't salted and tanned hides in the past. Sold quite a few while in Michigan. Its more a matter of my own capability right now. Just cannot do much any more without reaching for the nitro tablets.

Going to my favorite gun shop today not sure what I'm gonna do. @@ mag is still my choice, not that 22 hornet or 223 wouldn't work as well or better in some instances. As for reloading I like loading but I am already loading 6 different rifle loads, and 4 handgun loads. Enough for me for now, the convenience of just buying a brick or 10 22 WMR is an attractive option.

Lester, what 's the price overthere of a .22 WMR round compared to a .22 Hornet. Take for both the Winchester's HP (which is still my favoured round for the .22 Hornet too).

And you can reload the .22 Hornet with little equipment: just fill the case with a powder used for magnumloads in .357 or .44 RM and put a 40-45 grs bullet on top.

Hornady .22 WMR V-Max Rimfire Ammo $13.59 for 50.

Hornady Varmint Express Ammo .22 Hornet $24.99 for 20.

Cost really is not the issue here, I really don't care how much something costs if its what I want and will provide the anticipated result. As I said before I am happy reloading what I do now and don't feel a need to add a new cartridge to my lineup. I am looking for convenience and ease of use. I see the coyotes often and they seem to frequent the same areas. Most shoots will be between 30 and 75 yards, I don't think that I would ever have a shoot exceeding 100 yards so the tool for this particular job based on requirements and expectations is probably the 22 mag. Having never seen one, fired one and held anything of that caliber I reserve the right to amend my decision after my visit to the gun store.

30-70 yards the .22mag will do the job well.
you can get a good reliable accurate Norinco bolt for little cost or get all fancy and go marlin or winchester levers, I believe you can get a 10/22 mag as well.
the norinco would be my choice as Im cheap Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
stick a suppressor on it if you are allowed and animals will have trouble picking where shot came from, allowing more than one to be fired.
