Is European American Arms revolvers any good?

Im considering getting an EAA .44 mag or .357 single action revolver for plinking around in woods. Is this a good option to go with? I need somthing tough and reliable. I want a big caliber just in case i wanna shoot a deer.

I don't know anything about their revolvers but I know of a couple of their auto-loaders that have very high round counts through them and have done very well.

When it comes to tough and reliable it's hard to beat the Ruger Blackhawk !!!
I'd question how the EAA stacks up against it.

I haven't shot any EAA guns. If you want a good revolver for plinking and maybe hunting its hard to beat a Ruger.

Have to agree with the other guys mate...a Ruger Blackhawk is a hard gun to beat for being tough and reliable. There are others out there I would consider in .357 Mag, but for a .44 Mag the Ruger would be my gun of choice.

There are of course the "monster" guns like the .454 Casull etc...if you have a good Bank Manager supporting you.

As an aside mate...if its only plinking you want to do, then I would have to say a .22 rimfire semi auto is the way to go...cheap to run and a tin can isn't really difficult to "kill". Keep the .44 Mag as a backup for safety in the bush, but make sure you practice and are competent with such a large calibre.

Ruger has my vote too but I am not at all familiar with EEA.

Have to join in with the others. I have no experience either good or bad with EEA, but it would be almost impossible to match the track record of the Rugers. Built for stout...last forever with care.

I'll put my 2¢ in, shot an EEA 357 last year and it seemed ok, but since I own 3 rugers and 1 smith IMO, Rugers are built the best.

Well I agree the single action Ruger is a fine revolver , but I always liked the S&W model 29 in 44 Mag .
You can load them down for plinkin' and up to send a bear to his maker .

For tin cans I listen to Vince .He has something good to say as a rule , plus there is always room for a good pint .

I have had great success using a pair of Rugers, one a single-six .22 LR / .22 Mag and the other a Ruger Blackhawk .44 Mag. Both are set up with identical sights.
No experience with the EAA's - but you can't beat a Ruger Blackhawk .44 for hunting. From an improvised "hunting rest" (bracing on a branch, etc.) I have no trouble exploding a potato at 50 yards. I would not hesitate to drop a deer up to 100 yards with this rig. (My longest shot to date was 125 yards.) Mine has the 10 5/8 " barrel.
Both of these revolvers are easy to find used and in great condition at a reasonable price. Weigand sells nice scope mounts for both models. If you have young enough eyes for iron sights, the stock Ruger sights are quite good.

I know this post is older, but hey, I'm newer. so here goes my 2 cents.
Ive had an EAA Witness Auto Loader since 1992, the first year they were imported here. In fact, its on of the first sold by EAA. Its actually a Tanfoglio made in Italy. Its basically a copy of the CZ75, its also the base gun for the Mini Desert Eagle and the Jericho 941. I can tell you with full confidence that I love my EAA Witness, one of my favorites of all my handguns, and while it did need some fine tuning out of the box, its been a fantastic gun over the years. I also have the 40S&W , a 10mm, super 38 and 9mm luger barrel and mag conversion kits for it. So I can shoot all kinds of stuff with it and have. However, the Revolvers I have tried, but not owned, and have no long period of use with on. I do know they are made by Weirarch in Germany, a company that has been around for ages, and has a pretty good track record. It does remind me a lot of my S&W model 66 and seems to shoot about as well as it does. Which is good. And, Ive seen it under $300 for the 357 model, and thats cheaper than even a Tarus or Rossi of the same class.
I myself would consider it if I was looking for a revolver. Just my humble opinion

My ex wife was from Melbourne, been down under many times and loved it there. Sidney and Surfers Paradise were my favorite places to visit.

I also wanted to add that I just found out that the Rossi Revolvers, are actually made by Taurus in Brazil. At least it says that on Wikipedia, which appears to have been mostly written by Taurus.

I also found this little ditty about Brazilian gun laws that I found very interesting and would like to pass on here.

Thanks mate. The link to the Brazilian Firearms Laws is interesting. I always thought that it was pretty much carte blanche in the South American countries...but like everywhere else...only the criminals have the weapons.
