yesterday I had a friend come visit and talk reloading, and presser sings.
he is new to reloading.so he showd me some fired brass.
We talked for a few minutes then I retrived a rifle I tried to blow up!

I had a 7mm ultra uncork in my hands it blew the floor plate off bent a leupold 4-14 and split the stock from but to forend. I emedatly pulled all the unfirerd rounds thay all hade a good charge in them. I had to unthread the barral off the action to get the bolt open. The brass was not split just a blown primmer.
after a couple weeks of trying to figer out just what had happend I dicided to duplicat it.
I was shooting 160 accubonds with 92.5gr RL25 fed match mag primers rem brass. I straped the rife to my portable benck and fired it from behinde a huge rock with a string!

RIFLE REM 700

1st shot 110gr RL25 BOLT HARD TO LIFT CRATERD - FLATEND PRIMMER
EJECTER SPOTS ON BRASS
2nd shot 120GR RL25 had to use hamber to open bolt
no therd shot could not get enough 25 in case even after pulling 4 times adding new powder seating 4 times

3rd shot 100 gr imr 4064 had to use hamber knocked bolt handle off bolt body.
weld bolt handle back on.
4th shot 115 gr 4064 take rifle home unthred bbl
5th shot 120.0 gr 4064 would not fire to much powder presser on primmer anvelle would not move.

6th shot 128 gr w 748 blew barrel 40 feet down range!
weld barrel back on
GUN STILL WORKING
7th shot 125gr win 231 that did it bent bolt , broke forend off of stock,
ADL has hole for floor plate.
split stock through the butt plate.
Firing pinn and shrawd gone.
trigger bent.

So to this day i still dont know what happed the day i was holding that big 7. I always have only one powder bullet primer out while reloading.
All the outhers are put away in a cabnent.
I loaded 100 rounds that day. It blew on 9th shot.

But i did lern not to load 125gr win 231 in it!!!!!!!

I hope to be several benches away when these experiments are carried out at the range. All the best...

Maximum in the nosler manual is 88.0 grains with the 160 accubond. Maybe just a wee bit overloaded!

I dont have a actual community shooting range! Thers no one else around
that could get hurt. When the rifle is firerd Im 50' away behind a rock the size of my house.
My wife says I'm stubern and hard headed. I dont see it. I just wont to find out for my self. If that means distroying a couple rifles so be it.
I did a test to see witch is stronger ruger ,savage or remington . We will talk about this soon. When I was building semi production rifles we proof shot all rifles before thay would leave the plant. These loads read 80,000psi frome a lab. At 80,000 psi there is a slight primer deformation (cratering) a slight sine of brass on the bolt face and brass will grow .0015-.002 at the web. The bolt will lift with ease!
So with this tid bitt of info what are your loads? mine are always over presserd. I always have a slight cratering on my primers.

p.s Does any one have a pressere tester P.B.L.

I'll stick with the loads in the manuals. Can't see any reason to risk problems to gain another 0.5% velocity.

I really can't see destroying a perfectly good rifle for no reason other than " hot-roddin".
