Joe,
You should be fine as long as you dont have the heavy barrel. If you have the heavy Barrel you might want to set it up and see if you have enough clearance for it. Or you can try the Leupold Dovetails and they might give you enough clearance. Just my .02.
Lets see a picture of it when you get it all together.

I just ordered a new Mueller 4-16 x50mm mildot for my .223. I've read some good reviews on them so I'll be brave and try one, about $190.00.
Several of my friends use the swift 6-18 x44mm on their .223 and I must say that they are remarkably clear and accurate, about @180.00.

I used high mounts on my 12 FV and Simmons 44 Mag 6.5-20x44. I saw the photo of your mount and it looks like the bell is almost touching the barrel. When you can upgrade to the high mounts and for sure get the sun shade for it. It only costs about $15 + shipping. You got a great deal on the scope.

Hello Joe,
I think the Bushnell Banner comes from Korea, possibly Taiwan. I never felt the need for anything more expensive if we're talking varmint rifles, just so the optics are clear. Heavy kickers are a different story. For those I'll scrape up the extra money and get the best I can. Sometimes the origin of the scope will be printed on the box or on the scope itself. A rather knowledgeable friend told me one time the Tascos were good, just so you only buy the ones made in Japan. I followed that advice and have been very happy with them, mostly the 6x24 models. I have 4 of them now and all work very well. I think the secret, if there is one, is to stay away from anythiing made in China. Some companies, including Bushnell, have their cheaper scopes made in China. I had to return 2 in one year. Neither survived it's initial trip to the range. I had them mounted on a light, short barreled .308Win. which had a pretty high recoil level. The first one, a Sportview 4x12, gave me double vertical lines and the reticle fluttered as well. The second, a Sportsman 4x12 just came apart inside. I sent both of them back with a nasty letter. That's how I acquired my most recent Banner. Yeah, I wish I could put a Leupold or Swavorski on everything, but unless someone dies and leaves me a bundle it's not going to happen. Best wishes.

Hi shrpshtrjoe,
Natchez shooters supply has a special on their 6.5-20 44 Mag scopes.
6.5-20 Matte Black w/Target Turrets $99.95
6.5-20 Mil Dot w/ Target Turrets $94.95
I have a friend who has several of these scopes on his varmint rifles and has had no problems with them. I used to use the older Tascos made in Japan and have not cared for the newer ones from China. I now like the Leupold and Nightforce scopes but have just purchesed 3 of these Simmons for future projects. I have shot some of Larry's varmint rifles with these Simmon scopes and am impressed. I don't care for the mil dot scope as the mil dots are a little to large for me. About 3/4" at 100yds. I bought 2 dual-X and 1 Mil dot and am thinking of sending the mil dot scope to T K Lee and having the dots changed. I know, another project?
Catch you later,
The Big Dog

shrpshtrjoe,
Give the Millet 6X25 a look. Reasonably priced and has a 30mm tube with target knobs.

I've had a Simmons 44 Mag 6.5-20X44 on my 7mm Magnum (Mil-Dot) for some years now,... all that pounding an it's held it's setting and absolutly NO problems with it.
Clear, sharp images,... no muss-no fuss and the price was right!

Goodmorning!
I have mostly Leupold scopes on my weapons, but I must agree it get a little too expensive to mount Leupold on everything. Last year I purchased a Knight Elite Muzz. and mounted the new Leupold Rifleman 2x7. It was delling for $184.00 at Walmart. So far it shoots great and carries the Leupold Lifetime Warr. The also come in 3x9. Heard Turkeys Gobblin this morning. Time to spray down the old cammo and start callin!
