My favorite is an old 70's vintage Parker Hale 1200 Super. Always shoots where it is supposed to. In .270 with an old Redfield Widefield 3 -9. Always tempted to buy another like it....just not easy to find!!!!

I had to double check the poll. No Ruger? Ruger is the largest US manufacturer and is not represented. That is an unfortunate omission.
My "go to" rifles are Rugers, M77s and No1s.

Not intentional, just a limitation of the software. There were several others that the software would not take, Kimber, Cooper, Sako etc didn't make it either. There is a limit to the questions so I put other to cover the rest.
But here again, when you 'grab' a gun and walk out the door it might not be the gun you love as much as the one that get's grabbed most often. For me first is the NEF. My love is Winchesters but they are not my grab and run rifles. There are two guns loaded in my safe, the NEF and Savage 22/410, and I usually grab them for a fast shot at problem critters like snakes, coyotes, armadillo's, wild dogs, fox, bobcat and the occasional deer that walks by the back door in deer season.

If I went by what I use the most it would be Remington hands down. Most of my rifles are Remingtons. However since they've become obsessed with the bottom line and little else I've given up on them. I've had some bad luck with crappy Remingtons in recent years and have started to look elsewhere, mainly Sako and CZ. That may all change again of course. Best wishes.

I've had a lot of Remingtons over the years, most of them excellent rifles and very accurate. Recently they have become obsessed with the bottom line and bean counters, and we are hearing some horror stories on the various forums about their quality. I don't like to bad mouth anyone or their products, but last year I purchased a Remington 700BDL in .25-06Rem. that's pitiful. I've been shooting from a bench for many years and reloading with top notch equipment for as long. In addition to the cost of this rifle I shelled out big bucks for glass bedding the action, floating the barrel and an expensive scope. My best group has been 1 1/2" which is pretty bad, the worse I own. I can get most of these rifles down to about 1/2" (5 at 100yds), but not even close with this one in spite of the added costs incurred, and time spent developing accuracy loads. If I return it to Remington they'll only say it's within their accuracy specifications. I guess it's true, Remington has slid a long way. I'll eat the loss on this poor excuse for a rifle but will never buy another one. Sorry to rant guys, but I'm more than a little disturbed with this. The work I had done on it is by an accuracy gunsmith with competitive rifles. I guess the only thing I can do is cough up the coins for a Hart or Krieger barrel and hope for the best.
Please don't mention the name Remington to me for a few years, okay? I should have cooled down by then. Best wishes.

My Remington 700 BDL in 25-06 shoots 1/2 inch groups at 100 yrds, with the right bullets, and has since I bought it in the early 80's. My friend just purchased a new Rem Sendero and my BDL will out shoot it so far. We were at the range the other day and about the best he was getting was 1 inch groups at 100 yrds.

After hearing of the demise of Winchester I guess maybe I should change my vote to select whoever is still standing at the bell as my favorite. I expect several more companies to follow Winchesters lead and fold. There's too many bum products coming out now, and I suspect most potential gun buyers are becoming quite leery of what is being offered.
Best wishes.

I have a winchester mod 70 7mm rem mag with a boss on it that I am very pleased with but, if you want a mod 70 you had beter get it while you can. But over all I think Browning is the best straight out of the box they come with the barrel floated and the last one I bought was glass beded from the factory, with fully adjustable trigers that if you need to you can put a lighter spring in and easily get it down to 1 or 1-1/2 lbs trigger pull.
There length of pull fits me just right so that I can quickly get it to my shoulder for that quick shot.

Mine would have to be a 1963 model 88 Winchester chambered in .284 with an old Weaver KV scope 2 3/4 X 5 and the cross hairs arent even centered, but it shoots where the X is. Bought it when I was 12 and have sure put a lot of meat on the table with it over the years. Its just one of those guns that "fits".
