Beer batter of course mate. Never tried trout...caught a few and seen plenty, but never had the urge to try one.
Cheers, Vince

Nice, love those 'bows! I prefer rainbow trout to other types, maybe an exception is a big brookie. Sadly my state is shifting from rainbows to "tiger" trout which is a bizarre looking Brown / Brookie hybrid. They grow fast and are aggressive so my state is using them as a tool to combat chubs (garbage fish). In those areas harvest is restricted by size so I avoid those lakes.

If you get the chance to try fresh trout, give it a go. They are mighty fine table fare.

beer battered trout is primo tucker real 5 star goods. better than any sea fish or as good as the best of anyway. trout is a nice flesh but like other fish needs to be gill and gutted soon after catching and get the bloodline out of the inside it works like a kidney and if left gives a muddy taste.

took my son out fly fishing yesterday, the wind was a real pain and I learnt a few new words( out of the mouth of babes!!!) but we had a really neat father/son time on the river. we were fishing wee wets across and down as I feel this is easiest for the young fella till he masters casting( if such a thing is possible Ive been doing it for 30 years and still hooked my hat) I managed a nice 3lb brown which the lad netted AND gutted for me so we wont starve. Cant wait till the boy manages to get first fish on a fly that is a memory I will cherish forever.
