And at 55 I am a pup but I think that sometimes that us old military guys and gals could do a lot better job than what is being done now in our countries defence and in world peace. And that may or may not be serving in the military but in government. After having the experience of the world seen through a defender's eyes gives a more human prespective on the ills that can be cured with small changes and the grace of God to effect larger changes.

The other solution is to have every politician forced to be a private in the infantry for a year every time they decide to send the "Boys" over .

Vince, the older we get the better we were, eh.
My list of service caused ills stops me trying to get back in and topping up the pension, like they NEED another cranky ex SGT anyway.
As to the rest of you, come on over, you'll never never know, if you never never go, if I can steal a ditti from the NT tourist ad.

I would agree that the older fellers would likely do a much better job than the younger ones, just for the fact that we are at the age where we just dont give a shat anymore !
Ive been to Oz many times, was married to an Aussie ( not the best life choice I ever made I must say, but there are nut cases in every country)
Id love to go back for an extended stay, and what better way than to do something like this. Though knowing my luck, they'd ship my arse off the Afghanistan or some other god forsaken hell on earth place just to remind me of my X wife! Especially since last I heard, my X's uncle ( boardmember at westpac) daughter was the fiancé' of the last prime ministers son. I'm sure I wouldn't get a cushy detail at all
