No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay. While Politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense..
Monday we learned that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This will get national attention if news networks will broadcast it. When you add this to the below, just where will all of it stop?
This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.
This is an idea that we should address.
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed while citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
If each person that receives this will share it, in three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message.. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."

I agree Tremblay, it has been going on for awhile and as of late, it just seems the peon citizens of the US get railroaded every time. When I lived in Wisconsin, Senator at that time was Russ Fiengold and he had a local town meeting and I specifically asked him why members of congress both house and senate can work for 2 years and receive a lifetime pension equal to their pay at the time.. He looked at me and then at the podium and then to another person and said next question.
Needless to say I was escorted out because I kept calling on him to answer my question.......never did answer.

There is the reason mate...one rule for us and another rule for the rest of you !!
I received an email from a mate in Long Island today that touched on this very subject. The picture below was the sole content of the email, but in reality, it says it all.

Vince those figures are quite reasonable... why complain???
a retired US president is worth$450,00 for life I mean come on guys work it out average life span =70odd years devide 450,000 by 70=$5000 per year
but of course we must take off all the money they earned BEFORE they were elected lets say $75,000 per year and average age when elected... say 50 start work at 20 makes 30 years at 75000=$2250000
so when we work it out they ONLY OWE the tax payer $1800,000
back to work for them I feel.

AN OLD SEA STORY-- There's an old sea story about a ship's Captain who inspectedhis sailors, and afterward told the first mate that his men smelled bad..The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailorswould change underwear occasionally. The first mate responded, "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to itimmediately!"The first mate went straight to the sailors berth deck andannounced, "The Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wantsyou to change your underwear."He continued, "Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, youchange with Witkowski, and Brown, you change withSchultz." THE MORAL OF THE STORY: Someone may come along and promise "Change", but don't count on things smelling any better

I wholeheartedly agree and again suggest tar and feathers, but maybe a Sodom and Gomorrah event is what it will really take to erada---- whoa whoa there can't finish that thought someone might be listening. Paranoid yep you bet, more today than ever. At least since the enactment of the new National Defense Authorization Act. It is hot enough in South Carolina Gitmo is hotter
But, while the proposed 28th amendment sounds wonderful it does not exist, it should, but is nothing more than an urban legend. Further if it did exist it would have about as much chance passing as an amendment for term limitations.
And, knowing what we know about those extraordinary individuals who are elected to serve, why would they ever pass a law that infringes on their own benefits. After all they spent millions and millions of dollars getting elected, not to mention George Soros’s money, and what about the lies we told getting elected, well I need that extra protection.
And, if you’re upset over what they have given themselves what happens when they do decide to retire, or are forced out because they have done something so egregious that it cannot be ignored, -- they get elected to the board of directors of major corporations, become lobbyists, speakers at large and make even more money, and still effect a countries policies, and the people they wanted so badly to serve. In the words of one of our illustrious presidents "Yes We Can". Oh, but in case you didn’t understand that only applies to Him.
