You asked the right question. I love this load!

I load the V-max seated to 2.650" OAL in Winchester brass trimmed to 2.040 with Federal 210M primers and either 48.0 gr. H414 ( 3460fps) or 43.3 IMR 4064 (3650fps) Both will group 10 shots under a nickel at 100 yard from my sporter weight .243 built on a Mauser action. The V- max is a one shot stopper on coyotes to 300 yards. (I have not shot any farther than that to know how it would perform out there)

Thanks Dawgdad I'm sure I'll give those powders a try. Have used IMR4064 with 75gr. HP and 70gr. Hornady SPSX bullets with 5 shot dime groups @ 100 yards. This out of a T/C Encore. Don't recall ever using H414 on any reloads.
On your OAL 2.650" is .050" longer then most book specs. Is there still enough bullet hold in the neck. Just wondering cus Encore really shots better with loads around .20" off lands. Wasn't sure there would be enough bullet left.

sorry could never get the 58's to shoot any goodin my long throated 243. used mainly varget.
The 65's grouped .71 moa over 3x5 shot groups out of a Win 70 243 varmint in bad cross winds.

That load was only doing mid 3200's but it sure dropped skippy on the cull I used the rest of the box on.

went to the 75 V-max from there and thay grouped but hit a lot harder.

Sold the rifle a few years ago and gave the load info to the new owner so I cannot be more specific than that.

I'll be trying the 58's in my 6 BR norma when it comes back from the smith. but it's throat will be quite short.

later

I tried the H414 for two reasons. I like the way it meters and fills the case( spherical powder) and a buddy gave me an 8# jug Cool

I may follow Ogres advice and step up to the heavier V-max for long range (400+) killing power. The speed and flat trajectory are enticing but heavier bullets hit harder.

Out to 300 this bullet is instant death on the coyotes that got in its way.

Always use the seating depth that your rifle likes best. This one I have shoots better with them up kissed on the lands. There is plenty of bullet to hang onto at this distance. Neither of these powders are at Maximum so you should be able to shorten the OAL without pressure problems.
