NOT!

Anyhow, Sunday I went to my dad's grave to remember the 4th anniversay of his passing.

The went to pistol club for the Fun Shoot event, pretty much the only time in the year that we could shoot at things beside paper.
Well it was fun, shooting at clay pigeons on Ferris wheels, eggs, balloons etc.

The afternoon I went home and make a boot knife Kiridashi
Here this..
4.5mm thick of 1075 steel, heat treated to 60 HRC

Looks dirty on the photo, but it is actually reflections of whatever it is on the mirror smooth surface.

What a shiny, pointy thing that is!! Better get it right when ya put that back in your boot. Does it get a wooden handle or as is?

Not sure yet Suz,
Putting timber on it would made it thick, and thus uncomfortable to carry.
OTOH, it will afford better grip..

I am undecided Bang Head

Once again Gelan, you have shown your abilities mate. A beautiful piece of work, well done.

Wooden scales, unless very thin and narrower than the tang would be uncomfortable...however, a nice wrap with thin para cord, the inner cords of para cord might well be the go, would make for a good grip.

A near full length scabbard would be the go as well.

Thanks mate,
Talent I don't have, only stubbornness to finish what I started.

Vinnie I agree the wrap sounds good and maybe a small loop at the very end of the handle to put a finger in.

Just an idea.
Why not tennis or squash handle grip tape. Keep it thin but give the grip.

Am thinking some of that mastic black stuff like rattle can leak ender or maybe better yet spray on pickup bed liner ? Maybe whatever coating you pick while it is still a tad tacky could be lightly touched with one of those extra heavy green scouring pads or something similar to give it a rougher finish or maybe roll it in some course black sand. They have colored plastic dip for tool handles and such too that I am sure you could get creative with also. So much to choose from and only one knife ....

Radar, the tape is functional, but imo not ornamental for this project.

10spot, I'll make more knives Very Happy
