1895, yep. Finally was able to talk to someone in customer service. Sent the rifle in and in exactly one week from the day I put it in the mail I got it back. The weekends have been pretty winding and ..well cool up here so I couldn't do any serious sighting in. But I did put 30 rounds thru it. Well, damn, about every 6th or 7th round I had to shake to get to cycle and when I got home I find that the fore-end holding screw was broken!!!! Not sure how that happened but I am getting just a little frustrated. I'm still thinking Bushmaster and his Win 1894 is sounding better??

Why Thank you Squirrelbait...Please don't say that too loud or 1895ss will have a heart palputation.. Sad ..I've had my Winchester for 45 years and the only part that I have had to replace was the front sight hood...Dummy me can't find the side of a barn with it on and I misplaced it. Had to buy a new one as I use it to protect the front sight when it is not being hunted...

Funny thing, I've never replaced anything on any of my guns and never had a problem with any......... even Marlins.

By all means squirrelbait, it is a free country and your money, get one.

Nope, just no sense in disagreeing with someone who already has their mind made up that they don't like what they got and think something else is/would be so much better, defects and all. I and millions of others happen to like what we have. Besides, anything made by human hands can have some defects, look at the space shuttle. It's up to the individual whether they want to take the time to iron them out or give up. Smile

I do like my Marlin 336C 30-30.

, If I had the money, I would go buy the Winchester 30-30 , just to have it.

and I would take it shooting right along with my Marlin. load them both up and shoot them empty, then load em up again.

I be honest about the matter, I realy do not have a real prefference in brand names, as long as the gun is good , holds up to a beating, and shooks like a sharp shooter.

I have seen some real cheap guns shoot good groups, and some real good name brand stuff that had some real problems.

some times we just get a lemon no matter what brand we go with. human error.

out of all the readings I have done about a winchester verses marlin. I think its about half and half. people that like the marlins realy like them. and poeple that like winchesters realy like them.

they are both very nice guns. and I respect them both.

1895SS, ripper007 does have it right. Part of my ranting on Marlin is to make Bushmaster feel better, but part of it is really frustration in the situation. I ain't getting rid of the Marlin, just disappointed I have had the issues. Why not someone else......ya know??
I like the feel of the gun and know it is basically sound.......just have to get beyond the start up glitches...........and it is frustrating as hell!!!!!
Between you me, I sold a Win94 30/30 plus Christmas money to get this Marlin. I can shoot more, because I reload, with the 357 and still get to the hunting range I need in a deer rifle.........about 100yds max. Don't tell Bushmaster though.

I can certainly understand your frustration. When we buy something new it should work like it's new. The thing is that not everything is free of defects, you run into a bad one here or there in everthing you buy. Smile

By the way, I'll never tell Bushy you said that............. Very Happy

OK squirrelbait, I realy hate to hear a fellow shooter suffer, So here is what I'll do, I'll send you a check for $10.00 and take that old junk 1894 Marlin off your hands and save you any more suffering! You will be $10.00 closer to your new Winchester that way> :):):):):):)

I'm glad you got it fixed. Nothing worse then a gun that won't shoot....... Smile Smile
