Members - Fox News is reporting that John Kerry has said he will sign the UN Gun Treaty!!! We have been able to avoid and disallow the involvement of the US in this Treaty up to now. We need to get the keyboards clicking and make sure that this idea is erased from Kerry's mind for ever. We need to start the letter writing now!! Write your Representatives, Senators, Governors, Kerry and the President.
We must counter this!!

I spoke on the phone with my Senator Chuck Grassley on this very issue last month and he is very against it and will vote No when it comes before (if it does) the senate again.
I also asked him if the big ZERO in the white house could use "executive orders" and Grassley said no he cannot because UN treaties have to be approved by the Senate.
Oh and here is a picture I found on the web with John Kerry and Jane Fonda.

Fonda's a traitor and should be hanged, kerry should swing with her just by association. He should be tarred ,feathered and shot if he signs anything to do with the UN ( useless nongs).

Yes, the document would have to be radified by both House and Senate.
Here is an excerpt from the article:
"Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday that the Obama administration would sign a controversial U.N. treaty on arms regulation, despite bipartisan resistance in Congress from members concerned it could lead to new gun control measures in the U.S.
Kerry, releasing a written statement as the U.N. treaty opened for signature Monday, said the U.S. "welcomes" the next phase for the treaty, which the U.N. General Assembly approved on April 2.
"We look forward to signing it as soon as the process of conforming the official translations is completed satisfactorily," he said. Kerry called the treaty "an important contribution to efforts to stem the illicit trade in conventional weapons, which fuels conflict, empowers violent extremists, and contributes to violations of human rights."

PaulS - I don't think laws or the constitution matters to these guys and gals. Seems as though the gals are more rouge than the guys. It will take dynamite to get them out of power, if you get my drift.......

If Obama signs this treaty, knowing that the Congress and the people oppose it, he is screaming in our faces that he has no regard for a “government of the people, by the people, for the people”.

Any treaty has to be ratified by two thirds of the Senate. Even if the Senate had 100 democrats it wouldn't pass.
This thing is DOA.
Obama and Kerry are just a couple of arrogant bastards.
Remember during his debate with President Bush, when asked if the US was attacked again what would he do? His answer was to go to the UN for help.
Can't wait until 2016.
Even Hillary would be better than this.

One of things I worry about is the administration trying to use this issue to devert attention from the other mis-steps, mistakes, over-reach or what ever else one would call it. This entire administration is a product of Saul Alinsky, Communists and crew.

Already proven. This is just another example of his disdain for the populous he has been elected and sworn to serve. With all due respect to our foreign friends on this forum, this administration won't rest until we are subject to the same asinine rules and laws as Great Britain, most of Europe and other firearm prohibitive countries. This law has all of the necessary language to eventually put into place articles enabling signatory nations to dictate our firearm laws. So much for the idea of sovereignty of our own nation.

First... Bambam will not sign this bill until the Summer recess in the hopes that when congress comes back people will have forgotten about it. We need to make sure that we let them know that we aren't going to forget.
Next... I don't really care what law they pass, God gave me the right to self defence and that includes the means with which to do so. I will always have my guns and use them to protect myself and the constitution of the USA.
The sheriff and local police happen to agree so I doubt that we will have any commies coming to take our guns.

Here's an article from Snopes.com about the arms trade treaty and the implications of it. Please read the entire article, it explains the perceived notions and the actual (apparent truth) behind the workings of the treaty. It might put your mind at rest about how the US is involved and the 2nd Amendment issues. It left me with the thought that Obama is simply doing this as a diplomacy move. Although there are some vague wording used that could be subject to interpretation, that's what makes it more useable to the administration, I suspect. For instance the treaty's preamble makes specific reference to legitimate trade, lawful ownership and use of certain conventional arms for recreational, cultural, historical and sporting activities. Almost every word of that sentence could be interpreted as one sees fit..
On the other hand it could also be an ObamaNation rife with trick wording to elude and deceive. Who the heck knows these days?
