I think I see Microchips logo

upload.wikimedia.org/w...p_logo.svg

Which means it can very well be EEPROM, but in a SPI or other serial connection instead of the traditional parallel.

I doubt it is SPI since pin 7 on 8 pins SPI chips are usually an SDO pin and on board the PCB tracks shows that it is grounded.

Whereas on I2C chips, pin 7 is address pin so it can be high or low.

Could be Geland, have not used one of Microchips serial memory IC's in a while, nothing I do really needs dedicated memory. I have a few though just incase I end up wanting and not having. Laughing

Of late, most of my design uses built in EEPROM if the data requirement is up to 1024 bytes.

Any larger I would sooner to use Micro SD than EEPROM chips.
Micro SD variants is somewhat cheaper than EEPROM in bulk rate, and with proper coding you can store up to 64 GB of data!!

I've only really played with 8-bit AVR's and now went to 16-bit MSP430's, with a bit of TI's C2000 Piccolo thrown in.

I'm no where near needing a SD card just yet. Laughing

Ok, Unpacked my car, find the Chrony, opened the damned thing and here is what I found..

The IC is a Microchip 24C01 I2C 1KB EEPROM very common variant of EEPROM
The capacitor is 100nF

Re assembly the chrony, repack the damned thing inside the car and I realized that I should have taken a photo.. Confused
Can't be bothered to do it now..

Maybe one day I will explore the empty slots and switches.

Geland,

It's is ironic you posted on this thread again. The wife bought a keyboard half a year ago and never actually figured out why it didn't work.

Brand new Microsoft keyboard ... so I decided to dissemble it today and figure it out ...

I am currently waiting for my soldering iron to warm up abit browsing email and this popped up. Very Happy

Don't have that problem...I send it to the manufacturer and they fix it [for free] and send it back. Unless I shoot it.

Bit [strange] English aren't you (the ketchup)? I use mayo myself.

Salt and vinegar chips are a main staple around here, but what does that have to do with Chronograghs??

I like my chip plain or lightly salted.
OTOH, some Chicken and Onion flavor is welcome too sometime.

Okay I shot the diffuser rods on my chrony today when the wind caused it to spin on thr tripod. The front one was just nicked but the back shot through. Was a 223 soft point. I met a fellow at the range who just an hour before it happened told me his buddy had shot this guy's first chrony. Talk about jinxed! Thankfully the chrony continued to work and I was able to finish my string.
I have some 1/4 stainless to replace the rods although maybe I should stick to aluminum :-) The day wasn't a complete loss as a shooter gave me 200 38 special and 50 357 magnum cases freshly fired. He didn't want anything for them but jumped at the offer to fire 30 rounds out of my 45 Colt 1873 Remington replica. Judging by his enthusiasm I think he got bitten with the western replica bug. Hope he does as I am the only local at the club who, to my knowledge, reloads 45 Colt.
