Back at ya Gil and to the rest of the Nuts

Loading up the truck, sunday afternoon heading to the Utah "West Desert", hope to find a spring we can camp at and dove hunt the next day. Sadly last year we had EPIC storms roll through that drenched the whole area, we saw 2 doves after that mess.

Been raining off and on all week, not sure how its going to play out... but I can set up some targets and let my boy practice with his rifle and muzzleloader for the upcoming hunts. Its pretty out there... a whole lot of "nothing", you can see forever out there.

Happy Labor Day Gil...have a great weekend mate.

Enjoy your time out in the bush Dallan...teach your young fella everything you can mate...his brain is a sponge at this age and soaks up all the knowledge you can throw at him.

Celebrating my birthday on Labor Day (sounds strange to do that but...) can't go out shootin because of fire danger, they won't let you out in the woods. Thinkin of joining the Izaak Walton League shooting range, so I can shoot more often. It's $110/year, you get a key to the place and, from what I've heard, it's rarely used.

I do not celebrate labor day as it is a union holiday and I am anti union. But with that said...Enjoy the weekend as you would every weekend.

Bush? There are like 5 bushes out there... its flat and you can see for miles and miles and miles. Its a great place to go and "decompress". Few places like this in the USA anymore where you can get so far from a power pole.

Oh thanks! B-day is actually the 27th but I've been celebrating all week. I picked some black berries last weekend and put them in a gallon jar and poured 1.75 liters of vodka over them. At Christmas I'll bottle some pints for presents and then the berries will get made into a.....something....a pie? I dunno maybe a crisp or something. That should be good. Why did I bring that up? cause I'm going to have me some for my (Labor Day) b-day too!

I'm with you BushM, Labor Day is a rather socialist sort of thing to me and it's a paid day off! I like the paid part of it, so that's the celebration to me. Pete Seeger was my favorate folk singer until he sang at Obama's inaugural, that sort of turned my stomach. Well I grew up with his music and loved it's romantic, down-home, earthyness but as a child I had no idea what his background was all about. I loved hippies too, for about the same reason, and I felt they were trying to be more true in life and human, but look at them now....dirty idiots. They're takin everything to extremes and ruining they're own image as peaceful humans, living with the earth. It was never about socialism and anarchy, but it is now, what a shame.

Happy Birthday (Belated!) Celebrating all week is good though! Hot blackberry pie served with a scoop of cold vanilla fantastic!

Geez Dallan...you would get some real looong shots there mate. Where I hunt a long shot is 250yds - 300 yds.

This would give you a great opportunity to teach your young fella the necessities of a steady hold, careful sight picture and smooth trigger squeeze when shooting over long distances.
