Broke out the boat, took the family up fishing to a local lake that is a family favorite. Fishing was outstanding, caught 3-4 dozen fish total in a few hours. We were targeting Kokanee Salmon, a special landlocked species of salmon that thrive in bid deep freshwater lakes.
We caught alot of those, most in the 3-4lb range with a few big ones closer to 5lbs. The rest were rainbow trout of various sizes. It was a good day out on the water and the salmon were fantastic grilled up on the barbeque.
Kokanee are notoriously hard to catch but we've gotten pretty good at finding and catching them. Its a bit different than normal types of fishing but well worth it.
I need to be "sick of work" more often I think.

Good on you Dallan.
You need to recharge now and then.

Dallan, sounds like a great day! I call those "mental health days". I refused to work on Fathers' Day, mostly because they'd told us we'd be off then changed their minds.

Three to four dozen is a good catch mate, maybe just a couple too many to BBQ for lunch, so I assume the freezer is well stocked now. Do you guys have a bag limit on those spencies or or they very plentiful? |
4 a day per person. They upped the "possession" limit to 2x the daily limit. So we kept 12. That's alot of fish for our family... will last us a week or two until I get sick again.

Time spent with the family is time very well spent. The fish are just a bonus.

Well that sure makes my summer sausage & cheeze sandwich not look so good. Thanks for ruining my lunch Mr. Dallan.

I LOVE fishing for Kokanee Salmon. I have many a fond memory of fishing for Kokanee with my late maternal Grandfather, the best fisherman I ever knew.
Those little beasts can sure put up a fight! You'd swear you had a 5-6 pounder hooked when reeling one in. You'd see the flashing silver in the water as you got it closer and closer to the boat. Then you'd pull the thing out and it would be 1-2 lbs tops! Those guys have LOTS of fight in 'em.
They eat well too!
Dallan, what kind of marinade or seasonings did you use on it? It looks delicious!
