Lawdog44,
Welcome to hunting nut.

There are over 50 loads listed in the hunting nut reloading database.
HuntingNut Reloading Database

No loads here or at accuratereloading.com for the 7-378. You can try posting at the Wildcat board at this link.

I tried a google search on the 7mm-378 and only got links to barrel makers and chamber reamer dealers. One link about Weatherby releasing a gun in that caliber.

Hopefully someone here will have some info for you.
Chris

Also I would not worry about working up loads in the 7mm-378. You might get 10 shots off before you have to replace the barrel.

Only 10 shots????? wtf Why would that be Pop? Not familiar with this calibre. I take it that it is a wildcat?

Now that sounds like its going to be one expensive and labour intensive project.

Vince,

If I understand correctly the 7-378 is the 30-378 Weatherby necked down to accept a 7mm bullet. Shocked

Must have alot of throut errosion because of the amount of powder and the small bore of the barrel.

Honestly...I truly believe that you will not get over 100 shots or so before throat erosion set in. The 7mm ultra is the absolute maximum in powder capacity for the 7. Anything over that you do not get any appreciable diff in performance at all. This is proven by the fact that the 7 rum is barely better than the 7 STW.

I just had your 7mm-378 built. It's called a 7MM Rogue. It's had more work done to it than just neckind down the case. I'm working on loads ASAP. Get with me and I can give you info soon.

I love the 6-284 i use the 6.5-284 norma brass as a parent case it necks down easily. use the bullet seater once then the sizer die. the bullet seater just touches the 6.5 neck but I've never lost a case doing it this way with norma brass. I use the 6-284 as a lightweight deer rig built on a f.n. commercial receiver.it has a 1- 12 twist and my load is a 90g. speer on a charge of 53g. of Viht 165 with federal gm 215 lmr's to light it off. I think the 6-284 makes a lot of sense as a low volume cartridge (not a prarie dog gun). .240 Weatherby data can be used. I've lost alot of cases trying to form this case from other brands. mostly the neck gets pushed into the shoulder due to the span between the concentric circles of the neck and shoulder and the steep angle. as opposed to a shallow angle that supports better. I still have some old winchester cases I started out with but those are splitting and being discarded. I started with 50 in 1999 and have annealed them several times but am down to about 10. feel free to p.m. me if you want some some more I have several recipes I have tried over the years in that gun and would be happy to pass along.
