Well, our first hot days of the approaching summer. Two days of high 30's /low 40's Centigrade. Whammy Obammy flew out of Brisbane a couple of hours ago, it's 8pm and it's finally cooling down a bit...it's down to 36C...and I can't talk SWMBO into an air con.

Seeking forgiveness is often easier than seeking permission.

I've got 16 degrees F, you can have some of this, I'll chill a beer for you out my back door. Heck Vinnie I've got a widow unit to cool my entire house, but it does a good job, I have a small house. The hot weather doesn't last very long here but I do love my window unit. I bet your humidity it also through the roof, that's what really makes it miserable, gets you sweating and sticky. Maybe you could check out the new swimwear at the beach!? Ok Ok I just saw a 10 day forecast for Brisbane and yesterday was a fluke, the rest of the week looks 20 degrees cooler and frankly quite ideal summer weather....really high humidity though, good shootin weather. You should be prepared with a good AC or lots of ice on hand to quench the rusty pipes, no need to suffer after years of summers without AC. Age = you earned it!!

OK, so this is how I see the begging forgiveness goes. The AC is installed and running when she gets home and hits the roof or you if you are to close, and she says.

"What the he-- I told you we didn't need an AC, and you go and buy one anyway."

And, I say--

"My sweet darling it just bothers me so much seeing you so hot, and sweaty, and uncomfortable on miserably hot days. You work so hard around here and do so much for us, cooking and gardening, and cleaning and just taking care of everything. I just think you deserve to be a little more comfortable and there is so little that I do for you I just had to get it for you. Just give it a couple days and if it doesn't help I'll take it back. But please darling I know you are just trying to save us money but you really deserve some comfort.'

Just an idea, I believe if you be creative you can get away with just about anything. Our government does.

Yep Suz...last couple of days have been above the norm for this time if year, but I have a gut feeling we are in for a warm one, and as you say, the humidity is woeful. I would love to have a winter like yours Suz...I haven't seen snow for about 30 yrs or more...I really like it. You will have to have a couple if those icy beers for me mate.

Bushy, SWMBO has the pick of three different sized cast iron pans...6", 8" and 10"...she could do a LOT of damage with those mate.

Lester, I like the way you think mate, but if I was to do that she would gut me. My wife is the money manager in our household because I am useless with money. We bought our home in 2002 and she made the final payment a month ago...she is good and I don't want to mess up the budget. As it is u am looking at a new car very soon. I would lie a Dodge Ram 3500 or a Volvo XC60 diesel, so an air con is a nice to have, not a need to have.

My mate has a swimming pool that he said I am welcome to use at any time, so I will have to make do with sitting in the shallow end with a beer it three.

It's great here! somebody has warm while others have cold. We just had our first freeze into the mid teens F and now it is starting to rise to the low and mid fortys this week.
