I'm not going to post links or promote anyone's products, but you might want to check out video #31 on GunBlast. About the last half is devoted to a friend of mine's holsters. He just got started and his work is really good. I've known him only online and over the phone for about 15 years; we've never met. Not long ago he sent me three of his holsters to check out and keep. Two are for Ruger Blackhawks and the third is for my S&W 629. By my figuring, I have his third, fifth and seventh efforts. They are very well made and ride perfectly for field carry. I really wish that he had autographed them for me before he got famous!

Question...Did you remove the painted on blueing from the aluminum parts of your Rugers as I did?

Nice holsters. All three High Ride?

I polished the grip frame on the Ruger with the wood grips, but the ejector rod housing is still black. That one is actually a Single Six I bought in 1970 and the grip frame got the finish so worn off from years of use I just finished the job. The other one pictured is the .45 Colt Ruger I restored a couple years age. I replaced both the grip frame and ejector rod housing with steel ones and blued them.

All three holsters place the firearms with the triggers just about at the height of the top of the belt with the grips angled slightly tilted forward (maybe about 15 degrees) and positioned close enough to the body not to catch on things but out far enough for good draw clearance. As noted in the video, all hardware is covered by the lining layer inside the holster to protect the firearms' finish - a very nice touch.
