I'm glad to see so many commenting on lever actions. There seems to be a quite a few using 45-70 loads, so, I have one question. What is your favorite hand load in 45-70? |
Depends on what I want to do with it. All my loads use Starline brass trimmed to 2.095†with CCI 200 primers.
For fun, plinker loads that cost about $2.50 per box and have half the recoil of a .30-30 factory load are hard to beat. Near one-hole accuracy at 50 yards, too. LaserCast 300g over 13.5g HS-6., 1167fps.
For hunting it is a North Fork 350g bonded FP, 51.0g H4198, 2183fps.
For backyard rhinos, Cast Performance 460g WFNGC, 49.3g Benchmark, 1812fps, wicked recoil.
I have about 15 or 16 others, too!
