|
Today was our 40th Wedding Anniversary so I took SWMBO out to lunch, and a pleasant afternoon around the Arts and Crafts shop and afternoon tea on the shores of a local lake. I consider myself a very lucky man to be blessed with having a partner as lovely as Tricia...she is an absolutely magnificent person.
The Hotel is a beautiful old pub that goes back to the early 20th Century, and the meals are magnificent. We sat out on the balcony, watching the "passing parade" and enjoying the ambiance.
It only seems like yesterday we were two young people enjoying one another's company and wondering what the future held. Now we are two old farts enjoying one another's company wondering what the future holds. I learned that the 40th Anniversary is Ruby and I said to Tricia, well here's to the next 40 years. I looked up the symbol for 80 years and it is OAK...I'm hoping that doesn't mean an oak coffin.

Are you sure he can look in the mirror for that long?

Well done the pair of you.
Vinnies thought process
Big gun show vs Anniversary
Fun if I go vs unhappy wife
Fun vs "That" look and possible grevious bodily harm
Result
A nice day out and a great memory.
Just kidding mate, not many make 40 years these days, may you have many more.

Thanks everybody. Bushy is right Gelan...not sure I could, or would even want to, look in the mirror for "hundreds more" mate...that's a downright scary thought.
I'm working on it Punkin...OAK eh...I'm sure I could arrange for something made of oak...maybe a gunstock...NO NO NO, not a gunstock, bad Vince; I might end up with it wrapped around me ears.
Yup...you got it right Pete...happy wife, happy life mate...and I don't gits beat up badly.
