The tragic events in Orlando will be discussed for years to come. There are many unanswered questions. The nightclub was a Gun Free Zone with limited security. Most of the exit doors at the nightclub were padlocked which is a serious Life Safety Code violation. The shooter was covering the only exit. All of the victims were unarmed and waited for help in vain. The FBI knew the shooter and no one was watching him.

The First Responders waited three hours to enter the building when faced with a life-threatening situation. That will and should get a lot of attention. First Responders should respond to life-threatening situations within minutes, not hours. Can you imagine a fire department or an ambulance crew waiting hours to respond to an emergency?

For twenty years (1993-2013) I was the Emergency Management Director for my township and worked with four fire companies, and ambulance corp and the police. We had many, many calls and did not hesitate when the situation required immediate attention. The fact is that First Responders are expendable. They are only effective when allowed to do their jobs.

Here we have a 29 year old man, born in the United States to Afghan parents. A man that used guns to massacre 50 people. This is one man out of millions of gun owners that chose to do this horrendous act and what do we blame? The guns and the evil gun culture of America. This man pledged allegiance to ISIS. The local mosque had as it's speaker, in April, an Imam that called for the killing of all gays, saying it's the compassionate thing to do in putting gays to death. This man is a registered Democrat and a Muslim. Do we blame Democrats and paint them all with the same brush, no. Do we blame the teachings of Islam and say all Muslims are killers, no. What we do is take the fact that he used guns to do the killing and call for a ban on guns in the United States and say they are to blame for the American culture of death and violence. There are just too many inconvenient and uncomfortable truths for Democrats to put the blame where it belongs. The blame belongs on the teachings of Islam, the reluctance of our governments to act on it nor even to admit it. If you are a believer, if you follow the path or the way, then you believe that killing non-believers is proper and you are obliged to take up or support the killings. Like Obama I will not call it radical Islam, but I have a different reason. There is no difference between what some would call radical Islam and just plain Islam. Do they have a different Quran? A different belief system? NO they all believe the same teachings. Some are soldiers and others support personnel, but they all are at war with non-believers and it's high time we, as free people, see the light and put a stop to it.

There was a “public health crisis” at a club in Orlando that killed 50 people? Well, that’s one way of putting it.
Possible alternate headline: “Progressive U.S. senator unwittingly declares radical Islam a ‘public health crisis.'”

Yep, we in OZ know exactly how you feel.
We copped the shrill accusations, the vilification of the anti gun crowd and our government.
Fortunately you lot have the second amendment in your constitution, you also have freedom of religion.
What the anti gun crowd will conveniently forget is the gun is an inanimate object and the Muslim knobber gunman is the blame.
Murder, assault, deprivation of liberty, grevious bodily harm are ALL illegal, as are hate crimes and any type of racial/sexual vilification.
All that will be ignored.

Seriously though, the authorities (FBI NSA etc) should now be dragging that religious moron, the imam who vocalised the anti gay sentiments at the mosque, in and charging him as a conspirator and accessory to murder for inciting the actions of the murderer. See that, we need to change! It's our fault you see. Well we need to change alright, but not the change for which he's calling. We need to stop the PC BS and place the blame with Islam. If not we can expect America to look like Europe in a few short years.
The left's talking heads are rushing to blame the NRA and it's evil gun culture. Was it also the NRA's fault in France or Belgium? Did any American hear about the fact that this American Muslim, born to Taliban supporting Afghan refugee parents, who pledged himself to ISIS and slaughtered innocent Americans and then stop to think to themselves, “Gee, I sure hope God grants me the strength and courage to change, in light of this evil.”?

Why should hundreds of millions of Americans who have been tolerant and peaceful need to change?

Unless of course the change he is talking about is a change to divert attention from Islam and place it on our gun laws and his own legacy. Of course if that is the case, it’s a very offensive invocation of God’s intervention, wouldn’t you agree? If this President isn't able or willing to stop the killing of Americans by Islam then he should step down.

The shooter probably thought he was going to wake up with a harem of 70 virgins. He is in for a very sad surprise.

You can't fix stupid. The liberals are happy to give stuff away if it's yours (like your rights, etc.) as long as they don't think it affects them. Since their brains don't work right, they don't see that where society has been disarmed, the criminal element is armed and the police and military are armed and corrupt. I don't expect them to ever get it and I expect things to get a lot worse.

Look at it another way, I suspect that a high percentage of gays are also liberals. Liberals as a class believe Muslims and various immigrants can't be blamed for crimes and America should be disarmed. As horrendus as the crime was, it was just a fortaste of what a liberal policy will bring us.

Unfortunately, the military is disarmed when they are in the US/not in a combat zone. All officers and senior enlisted should be allowed to carry a sidearm, chamber empty, while on duty so they are not defenseless.

Yeah, I saw that mate. He was shown on TV spouting his filth, but apparently he has up and fled Australia as well. One can only hope that he is now on a "watch list" and will not be allowed back into the country.

A citizen under FBI scrutiny should be considered too dangerous to own a gun, but that citizen remains fully qualified to be in charge of the U.S. nuclear arsenal (provided that citizen is named “Hillary Clinton”).

I haven't seen much television lately but today I noticed the feverish pitch this has gotten to with Obama and Hillary teaming up on Trump. The media is going along on the ride and advocating tougher gun control measures and greater scrutiny within FBI screenings, interviews and watch lists. Prime time for the opposition to pounce I guess.

Gun manufacturer's stocks went up the day after the shooting and I got several e-mails from dealers offering specials in anticipation of the coming backlash. Several medias are zoning in on anyone opposed to anything Trump is up to, especially any Republicans and it's interesting to see the media hype has been all in their words not Trumps. They'll show him speaking but you can't even hear what he has to say over their interpretation of what they THINK he's saying. They want to give you enticing what-ifs and when it comes down to it Trump is not being over the top at all. Typical media hype to get you to watch and typically there's nothing of substance in their story.
