Last evening my neighbor gave me his Ithaca Model 37 pump shotgun in 20 gauge that he received when he started hunting. It sat in a closet for 25 years and was badly rusted on the receiver and barrel, but not pitted. I spent some time with oil and fine steel wool lightly rubbing the receiver and barrel. The rust came right off. I touched up a few spots with G96 gun blue then cleaned the barrel. A light coat of boiled linseed oil was applied to the forearm and stock. When completed the shotgun was impressive.
I returned the shotgun to my neighbor and he was amazed. I could not keep his shotgun because it had sentimental value. His teenage daughter now wants to use it to shoot clay pigeons. Everybody was happy. All the best...

Bushy and Vince,
I do not have an iphone so do not take many pictures nor post them. Let me say, my neighbor was so embarrassed about his shotgun that he was reluctant to show it to me. When i was finished the shotgun was a real beauty. I was glad to help him out. My neighbor was planning to scrap the Ithaca and that would have been a shame. All the best...

You did the right thing, Gil. You can be satisfied that you salvaged a good gun for a new shooter. Kudos.

Vince,
You have my condolences.
Now, get the shooters and hunters together and get your rights back!
Let them government critters know that you have as much right to defend yourselves as the roos, snakes and spiders! Make them see that they need to prosecute the law breakers and not the law keepers.
Maybe you could ask them if they are going to arm the population if war breaks out all over the globe again... Let them know that the nation is safer with an armed population.
Best wishes,
Paul
