Vince, is this true? The list of prohibited weapons goes way beyond rational.

Those folks in charge are not at all friendly to guns or gunowners. Sure glad that I live in Pennsylvania. Guess they do not have a Second Amendment or NRA in Australia. All the best...

we here in NZ are about to go into election again......we have had 3 party leaders change/resign in last month and it looks like a labour led govt could well be on the cards...a labour-green govt could mean we end up with similar fiasco over here.

I watch the Marijuana laws here with a close eye... because states are making them legal, even though they are still federally illegal. Its interesting the fed isnt enforcing the federal laws in states.

The reason I watch this isnt because I care in the slightest about Marijuana, but rather because my state has very specific pro-gun, pro-2nd amendment laws on the books.

*IF* the fed ever repealed the 2nd amendment, then there still remains all of the states with pro-gun laws on the books. If the fed has set a precedent of ignoring federal laws with respect to "legalized" marijuana, a similar argument could be made towards gun laws. It would take an unbelievable effort to enforce a countrywide ban on firearms in the USA.

As far as gun laws them selves, I think my state of Utah, has the 3rd strongest pro-gun laws in the country. When the revolution comes I think Texas and Utah will be the last of the free places.

That is a pretty basic list of what is prohibited, but in reality there is much more that is prohibited in one way or another. Ask Gelandangan if he still has his .45 pistol...calibres over .38 are prohibited without special permission.

Don't even start me on semi auto rifles or anything that "looks like an assault weapon"...yep, the list runs deep, real deep and is controlled by very strict rules and regulations. One of the worse things is the Police can, with the support of Parliament, change the Regulations without it going before debate by the Govt...all it took was a small but significant clause in the Firearms Act giving permission.

Another problem people are experiencing out here happens when Police do security inspections. They will call unannounced and if the licensed owner isn't home intimidate and apply pressure to the spouse or partner to open the gun safe for a 'simple inspection'. As soon as they open up, the Police confiscate everything and charge the licensed owner with insecurity and charge the partner with having access to firearms whilst unlicensed. This is entrapment, and they will often target farms and older folk with this practice. The older folk in particular trust Police and are easy to convince to open the safe for them...they think they are doing the right thing by assisting.

Of course they will deny every doing it, but it is happening. I am very pro Police, but I must admit this type of action angers me greatly.

Sounds a lot like what the Britts tried in the mid 1700s in the colony that became the states.
I wonder if there ae enough people with the same character here in the states to rebel if it was tried by our own government...

there I go, getting my name on another list.

Firearms enquiry officer asked me where I kept the spare keys to my gun safes.

Answer: "None of your business".

He gave a wry laugh & said "right answer".
