forgot to mention that I like carrying a pistol with a thigh holster when I hunt. I've been doing this for 15 years. The thigh holster places the gun below my coat and outside all my warm outerwear in the cold weather. Allows very quick access.

Slim,
I’ve noticed recently that the 10mm seems to be making a comeback and have actually considered one for this purpose. I also looked at Rugers 10mm revolver...

Ooh shiny...
That would complement the .357 GP100 which is my current favourite handgun to shoot.

And the moon clips would make for fast reloads...
One of the few guns I ever sold (and the one I regret the most) was a .357 GP100 with a six inch full lug barrel. Wish I could get that one back...

You mean like this....
As can be discerned by the state of it, I had a LOT of fun that day.

The only thing I could ever complain about with them is the factory sights, but they are easy enough to replace.

I went ahead and picked up the Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull. With the discount (the store is going out of business) I also managed to get a RCBS 3 die set in .454 Casull, a box of new Hornady brass, an RCBS shellholder, and a trimmer pilot for slightly more than their original asking price for the gun. They didn’t have any ammo (either .45 Colt or .454 Casull), so I’ll check with a different store tomorrow. I also need to get some .45 Colt brass, large pistol primers and figure out what powder and bullets to start loading some practice rounds.
My only complaint is the factory sights, but I found some aftermarket ones on-line. It may need to take a ride to a gunsmith to have them installed though.
I’ll try to post some photos...

Mike, I thought revolvers were illegal to own in the UK.
